Southard, 85, of Jordan, Arkansas will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain Home, Arkansas with Rev. Carl Cook officiating. Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. today at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Southard passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Care Manor Nursing Home. Pallbearers will be Jerry Russell, Dennis Langston, David Langston, Lance Southard, Alan Sifford and Fred Sifford. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Russell, Don Green, James Southard, Craig Sifford, Nolan Langston, Galen Southard, Doyle Southard, J.L. Dillard, Brett Southard and Larry Southard. Burial will be at Hand Cemetery at Jordan. Nelson F. Southard was born March 10, 1918, at Rodney, Arkansas to James W. and Nancy Langston Southard. He married Eileen Hively Feb. 22, 1941, at Norfork, Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Southard worked as a shipping clerk for a rubber manufacturer for 22 years at Kansas City, Mo., and moved back to the Twin Lakes Area in 1978. He was a member of Rodney Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Southard is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers and three sisters.
