All census records and Civil War pension records, plus his homestead on his farm, list him as Shadrack only. There was a William S. Henderson in the early history of Baxter Co., but this is not the Shadrack who married Mahala Jane Whittenburg. In the Addendum to the 1860 Census of LaClede Co. MO, Shadrack Henderson and wife Mouncy are listed with son Benjamin. They are neighbors of Jesse and Rachel Whittenburg, the parents of Mahala Jane. Census records show Drew Henderson to have been born in MO. Drew's son Lonzo told me that Drew moved to AR as a child with his parents and Aunt Mary "Polly" Whittenburg. About Sarah Belle Henderson that she was 3/4s Cherokee Indian. There have always been rumors about the indian connection. I have looked briefly for it to no avail. Please, somebody show proof. If my great Aunt Belle Foster was 3/4s indian, it should be easy to find out how. Somebody must have names if this is true. Annie Henderson's name was Mary Ann. She married George Coleman. I realize that this makes two of the children of Shadrack and Mahala Jane as having the name Mary. One was Mary Matilda who married William Tripp, and the other was this Mary Ann who married George Coleman. Many of the Whittenburg families, for some reason, had two different daughters in the same family by the name Mary.
