Thanks, Vera, for adding a touch of "human interest" to the obituary. Wonder if his middle name is Ross, since his name in her obituary is shown as Gene R. DOSHIER. A CRANFILL query on the Baxter Message Board appears to have been posted by Norma Gene DOSHIER's sister, Pat HOLLAND. My interest in DOSHIER line is through marriage of "Odes" Albert Ambrose E. DOSHIER (1901 - 1990) to Mamie Marie LANCASTER (1903 - 1986); both buried at Gassville Cemetery. Mamie, daughter of Robert B. "Barney" LANCASTER and Mary "Myrtle" FINLEY, remained in Baxter County -- but her parents and three siblings came to Oklahoma. Myrtle, daughter of "Kate" {PERRY} and Theodore Henry FINLEY, and my mother were first cousins. I've collected quite a bit of DOSHIER information in my quest to find Odes' parents: Calvin V. DOSHIER and Matilda Agnes TAYLOR. Peggy Peggy {King} Truesdell Tulsa, Oklahoma
Vera, after checking again, found in my file that Ross DOSHIER was Calvin "Ross" DOSHIER, son of Alex Edward DOSHIER (1871 - 1944) and wife Rebecca Jane OTT (1871 - 1907). A. E. and Rebecca were born in Marion County but found them in 1900 census in Matney Township, Baxter County, Arkansas, where he was a Farmer. I did have Calvin "Ross" DOSHIER's dates (6 November 1891 - August 1968) and that his wife was Rose COLSON. There are COLSON connections to (my) ROBERTSONs, who also lived at at McPherson. Perhaps Annis June will read this and have more on Rose {COLSON} DOSHIER. There are probably additional siblings of Calvin "Ross" DOSHIER, but these are ones I have: 1) Virgie DOSHIER, b. 24 June 1892, AR (1900 census), d. November 1966 in Redwood City, CA; married Lee HAMLET; 2) Ida Lucresa DOSHIER, b. November 1894, AR (1900 census); 3) Irvin H. DOSHIER, b. June 1899, AR (1900 census); and, 4) Ema DOSHIER, abt. 1900 [probably Emma]. Peggy Peggy {King} Truesdell Tulsa, Oklahoma
Peggy, After looking at the 1880 Marion County census I would guess Calvin V. Doshier 12 and Ellec (Alex) Doshier 10 were brothers. The parents in that census were Peter and Pollie Doshier. It would seem possible that Alex would name his son after his brother, Calvin. ??? Just in case you don't have that marriage date A. E. Doshier 19 m. 17 Dec 1890 Rebecca J. Ott 18 I'll work on getting the obits scanned tomorrow.
