I myself hate sending this kind of info to a family member. ****** Calico Rock Progress, Calico Rock, Izard County, AR issue dated Sep 7, 1951 - Jury Finds Officer Justified in Shooting in Big Flat A verdict of justifiable homicide was returned Monday in an inquest of the fatal shooting of Dale Vickers, 23, at Big Flat Saturday. Vickers was shot by Deputy Sheriff Noah Sisk when the officer was attempting to arrest him. The shooting occurred on the main street of Big Flat about 9:00 p.m. Vickers died in a Mountain Home hospital about 4 a.m. Sunday. The jury held that Sisk shot Vickers in self defense and inline of duty. Evidence at the inquest showed that Sisk and his son, George were attempting to arrest Vickers and a companion, when a fight started. The deputy sheriff received a wound on the forehead and two severely cut fingers in the fight before he shot Vickers.
