They are buried in Galatia Cem., Baxter Co. Ben 1859-1936; Becky ?-1937. Ben is the son of John Stevens (c1814 KY) and Sarah ? (c1816 Indiana). John, Sarah and 5 children (including my GGGrandmother Polly Ann Stevens Avey Isom) were in 1850 census, Izard Co, Sylamore TP. In 1860 they are in census in Bell Co, Texas, with 8 children, including Ben, who is age 1, born in Texas. The other children were born in AR; therefore, I believe they moved to Texas between 1856-1859. I cannot locate them in 1870 census. By 1880 census several of them were back in Stone Co census, including Sarah (Ben's mother) who was 63. Ben, age 21, his wife Ann (Isom), and son, John H., 1, were living with his brother, Francis M. and his wife. I have not located Benjamin F. in 1900 census....there is a Ben Stevens & wife Mary Ann Brewer living in Stone Co next door to family members of Ben F., but it is a different Ben Stevens (Ben L.). In 1910 Baxter Co, Matney TP, census are Benjamin F. Stevens, 51, mar 2 times, 3 yrs, TX ; wife, Beckie, 47, mar 2 times, 3 yrs, 5/4 children, MO; and Effie, stepdaughter, 17, MO. In 1920 Baxter Co, North Fork TP, census are Ben F. Stephens 60, TX; Rebecca S. 58 Ill; Effie, 26 MO; Martin, Ervin, grandson, 3 ?/12, AR Ar MO. In Matney township are Benj. F Stevens, 27, Ar US Ill, wife, Ester, son Lural D. (difficult to read name) and Vera, daughter. Question: Does anyone have info about this family? Could this be a son of Benjamin F. and Ann? In 1930 Baxter Co, Big Flat TP census, are Ben F. Stevens, 71, m at 22, TX, Rebecca S., 68 m at 17, Ill, and Ervin C. Martin, grandson, AR. Question: Does anyone know the maiden name of Rebecca? Does anyone know descendants of Ervin C. Martin, who might have info? I have info to share on the siblings of Benjamin F. Stevens, many who lived in Baxter (Big Flat area) and Stone Co AR. Many are buried in the Stevens Cem near Roasting Ear Creek. I also have info on Benjamin's son, John H., and his descendants. If anyone knows where the family was in 1870, I certainly would appreciate hearing from you. By census data, we know that most of them were back in AR by 1880, but my GGrandfather, William Andrew Avey, was born in Texas in 1865, so I suspect that Polly & the elusive Jake Avey (can find very little info on him!) didn't return to AR until later. I cannot find them in the 1880 census. I do have Polly and William A.'s info after that. Thanks for any help!
