Born 1817 and the daughter of Russell Gist and Nancy Elizabeth Isham. So, you are saying that William Raney was alive in 1870? I was not sure when he died; just that Eliza H.     3. Bernie--I can't help but notice the Gunn surname--Jane Gunn second wife of Joseph Raney--there is a Gunn mixed up in the Green-Taylor bunch. I will have to look it up but I think its in the census in the Bennett's Bayou book of Don Hubbell's. Bernie, This is really confusing, because the Census in Sharp County where Eliza is listed as a Davis was taken 30 Jul 1870, and the Census in Independence County where she was listed as a Raney was taken after that on 20 Sep 1870. Are we sure we are talking about the same person, I have it recorded that way but I may be wrong. The Sharp County Census lists her as born KY, and don't we think she was born in TN.
