I spent a week in Baxter & Marion Counties and have been able to close in on my wife's g-grandparents, James K Taylor & Emeline, who it appears lived in Independence Twp of Baxter Co in 1900-1905, and earlier probably. I exhausted the Mountain Home Library resources with the help of the reference librarian. I took hundreds of pictures of county records (a good digital camera is as good as a scanner & much easier). I met Janie and the others at the Historical & Genealogical society museum in Gassville. I met Mary Ann Messick and we talked about the history of Pilgrim's Rest church and neighborhood. I learned from her of a lost Taylor Cemetery (its still lost unfortunately but it may explain the lack of Taylor graves in the Monkey Run area cemeteries). I talked to the Carsons who have lived all their lives in the area, and many others. Now I have to digest the materials I collected in a whirlwind tour. We enjoyed the White River and the mountains. I wish we could have stayed but the campgrounds were all booked up for the 4th weekend. Anyway, thank you all for the great suggestions and the good list here. Anyone here descended from TAYLORs who lived in Monkey Run/Pilgrim's Ret/Whiteville in Independence Twp? I'm still looking for the sibs of my wife's gfather. -------------------------------- Jeffrey L. Jernegan -------------------------------- On The Road
