Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4U.2ADI/2035.1 Message Board Post: Jan, Three Brothers was not actually named for three brothers. The original name of the community was Vin and was established around 1900. The postmaster there, John Deatherage, requested that the name be changed to Three Brothers in honor of the three-humped mountain range nearby. There are, however, local legends that Three Brothers was named after the Deatherage brothers (John’s sons), or the Turnbo brothers (families that settled in that area), but descendants of those families say that the town was named after the local mountain range. If anyone else has a story about the naming of this town (or any other towns in Baxter County), please share them! Maryanne

Hello, Bernie! First, looked at a genealogy report on Harvey Alexander SMITH and have about 26 pages. I really need your address, because I already have a "stack" of mail for you. Perhaps it'll be there when you return after your trip to "mainland." Also -- need any information on Heritage subscription. I live ten miles from the National Archives in Fort Worth -- but never seem to make it there -- still hope to (some day). I'll add some items to your post (below). I began checking into this family because of the FINLEY connection -- then discovered PITCHFORD / BAGWELL / ROBERTSON and others from Baxter area, in which I am interested. Annis, Thanks so much for posting that family. I'm sending both you and Bernie, an email I received from part of Warren J. Miller's family---when he left AR obviously went first to Texas then to OK and became very successful in the timber business. The lady that I found and contacted did respond and wishes contact with both of you. She is incrediblely excited about finding more of the family. Bernie & Annis, I think you two are in for a treat, this woman is a serious researcher and is anxious to find out more about the parellel lines. I think you guys will have lots of fun with this family. Beth In a message dated 10/17/2005 4:58:47 PM Central Standard Time, roy.mcguire@cox.net writes: Here is what I have found on the Miller. Well, well! Bernie, you will love this, because it looks as if you have found some more real cousins to your MILLER-SINOR group. Looks like there are two John William Miller in the Baxter Co., AR area born in 1896. I'm away from my notes but I think that I had noticed this difference before and wrote it off to poor penmanship but it seems to me that both the individuals I found had birthdates that looked like Jun but in one place it clearly is Jan 5--this is obviously the one here that connects to this whole family. Well, Annis----if the family didn't have the ancestors back to Daniel B & Barbary Pettit now you do. Enjoy! Now, I've got to find the other John William Miller! Wish me luck, I'm sure going to need it, even if he is part of this family group.
