My great grandfather was Silas Washington Fountain and was originally from Arkansas. He was born in 1897. As an adult he moved to Oklahoma. There couldn't have been too many Fountains in Arkansas so maybe there is a connection. If you have any info for me I would appreciate it. Maybe this will help you. Well, I'll say. I just don't think that I realized that there were Cockrums in Searcy County. I had communicated with a gentleman in the past regarding his Lawrence County Cockrums and we had been tossing around the Mord Cockrum that is buried next to Ellen Cockrum and her daughter; Mae Cockrum Smith; there Burnt Schoolhouse. We thought that there probably was a connection between the families from these northern counties, because he had a Mord Cockrum in his line, also. And that given name of Arizona Cockrum's father? Vollenay? I know that there was one of my Tiptons and his name was Vollentine. Maybe? Thanks, Vera - as always. Bernie Moore-Knowles Phoenix, Arizona - Papa'aola, Hawai'i "I have Indian blood in me. Bernie, I see this Parnell's query was 2 years ago or I would post what I've found. Snowball is in Searcy County and I did find a few marriages for this Cockrum Family. Arizona's parents are buried in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Searcy County, AR. I know they are her parents because they signed a note for her (16) to get married to Isaac Milam 21 -- 5 Dec 1915. If you've been in contact with this Parnell I'll be happy to post what I've found on some of the others. Vera > have you ever seen the surname of Milam attached to Belle Cockrum? This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: WARD,DUNCAN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4U.2ADI/1582 Message Board Post: Hi, I'm hoping that someone will recognize these folks. I'm trying to determine if this Squire WARD b about 1804 NC is Squire WARD b 1804 NC who disappeared about 1870 and was the husband of Winifred Duncan WARD who were married 1828 Washington Co VA and in Fayette Co IN by 1830. This family was in Washington Co AR by 1860 census. They moved around quite a bit during the Civil War. They were in Fulton Co AR for a time during the Civil War. Squire disappeared about 1870 and was not heard from by his wife or children. The birth year of Squire in the 1880 below and knowing that the above Squire had been in this area of AR makes it appear he started a second family with a much younger wife. ==== Seeking further information on Squire WARD family who appear on the 1880 Census for Baxter Co AR. 1880 Independence, Baxter Co AR Squire WARD age 76 born NC father b VA mother b NC Francis wf age 32 born MO father b NC mother b MO Joseph WARD age 6 b AR father b NC mother b MO ==== I can't find them after 1880. Considering Squire's age he possibly died in Baxter Co AR. All info appreciated, no clue as to Francis maiden name or if she remarried. No clues so far what happened to Joseph or if he married. This is not the Joseph WARD who married Judah FARMER in Baxter Co AR. I have some data on that line and a contact if anyone is interested though. Happy to share. Please reply direct, further info on these folks would answer many questions. Tom [email protected]

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: HICKMAN/COOK/FOUTE/PHABY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4U.2ADI/1581 Message Board Post: I would like to communicate with anyone researching the surnames HICKMAN/COOK/FOUTE/PHABY. The death certificate for my paternal grandmother, Clara May HICKMAN indicates her father was Harris HICKMAN (probably William H. HICKMAN), and her mother's last name was COOK (probably Maggie or Margaret COOK). The death certificate says Clara was born in Missouri 2 Feb 1883 but there is an IGI marriage record for Clarrie Hickman, b. Sep 1880 in Arkansas, daughter of William H. Hickman and Maggie or Margaret Cook, married 8 Jan 1899 in Mountain Home, Arkansas to Mattie C. Foute. There was one child from that marriage, Beaulah Foute. The marriage to Foute did not last very long. Clara or Clarrie married John PHABY 4 Jul 1903 in Baxter County, Arkansas. I have much info on the PHABY line. Lawson Phaby [email protected]

Bernie, look in the 1880 census -- with the distorted spelling -- and you will see Lydia SMITH in the GILLILAND household. Junebug sent a direct message to me a while ago that Lydia's sister married one of her GILLIHANs. Perhaps this is GILLIHAN AND not GILLILAND. Sorry if I led you wrong. Peggy
