There is this marriage -- but don't know if same "Belle" HULSEY. If it's her, perhaps she and LEMON divorced. Peggy ***** From "Early Marriages of Baxter County, Arkansas, 1873-1897, published by BCHS, 1994, page 26: James LEMONS to Belle HULSEY 24 December 1896 Perhaps Vera has source giving their ages. I also do LEMON / LEMONS research. They lived in Baxter County (Buford area) and came to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where I grew up around their descendants. Thomas Daniel ("Tom") LEMON (1847, TN - 1924) married Frances Cordelia KIMBERLING (1862 - 1919); both buried in Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow. Peggy

I think every where it says HEAD is a different household even if the 2 were living alone. Each has their own number. Also the census taker might be like me makes mistakes sometimes. Vera
As a HULSEY descendant, I have a huge collection of material. In 1980, I extracted this record: 1900 Census - Baxter County, Arkansas Union Township Supervisor's District No.2 Enumeration District No.8 Sheet No. 4 6th day of June, 1900 by M. LACKEY 67 / 68 HULCY Cathrin, Head, wf, February 1849, Widow, (ch) 5/1, b. AR / TN / TN; Day Laborer, NNY Dora Bell, Dau, wf, March 1879, age 21, Divorced, (ch) 1/1, b. AR / TN / AR; Day Laborer, NNY; RH ***** We identify Cathrin as widow of "Sid" HULSEY, whose proper name was Armistead HULSEY. We knew "Belle" married ESTES but never had marriage record -- so thank you, Vera! I have 1850 census for Carroll County, Arkansas with him as age 17 in household of his parents and family. His family originated in Georgia as mine did, but is further back in my line. My relative, Lou PERO, after publishing a HULSEY newsletter for a number of years, wrote a HULSEY book which sells for about $50 (I think). However, Lou has turned over her HULSEY online material to a lady named Pat. Lou and I have the same great-great-grandparents, both KING and HULSEY. Lou and I are also related through our LUTHER line. As mentioned, I have the 1850 Carroll County census for Armistead HULSEY family and some other families there in 1850. Peggy
The reason I thought they were all living in the same house was because the first number is number of dwelling house is in order of visitation and the next number is for number of family in order of visitation. Looks like Simpsons owned the house and Martha Estes is renting. There are two broaders there too Maybe I'm reading it wrong Annis
Annis, After looking at that film of the 1930 census I think Hicks Simpson is living alone at # 144 and the head of the house at # 145 is Martha Estes. At # 148 is Mart Green 31 and his family. this 1930 shows Albert Green married at age 32 and is divorced. I found a marriage for: Albert Green 24 ??????? m. 8 Aug 1907 Baxter County Cozie Smith 22 W. G. Estes 21 m. 3 Dec 1909 Belle Hulsey 26 ??? Age doesn't fit Belle - but it would come close to fitting Martha if she was ever called Belle. Could the step-daughter Ethel Estes really be her daughter born about 1911? This census also shows Martha married and Belle divorced. Wonder where Martha's husband is. Know all this doesn't help with the question you ask. Just something to think about. Vera ******************* > 1930 Census Arkansas Baxter Co. Annis? I'm not sure that this is much help - because the children born to this couple appear to be incomplete.
