Note, Vera, don't have date in November for BRIANT - FRIX marriage. Would appreciate having that, if you have it. Based on the above marriages, will do more census work. Certainly appreciate your help, Vera. The obituary for Florence FRIX said she came with family in 1869 from Georgia -- and it appears to me it was more like 1879, with births of children in Georgia in 1880 census. There were other FRICKS also from Georgia in 1880 Arkansas census (other counties). It appears FRICKS has Prussian or German origin. Peggy
Bernie, I just ran across this data in my file: (c1748PA-1794TN) Col. Hugh Tinnin and his family appear on the Orange Co., NC Tax lists for 1779 as Hugh Tinning and 1780 as Hugh Tinnin. There are records of Hugh being made a Capt in the militia and he was appointed a Major of the Orange City Militia on 22 April 1776. During the Rev. War he was promoted to Colonel of the Orange City Militia and engaged in several conflicts. He was captured by the British at the disastrous Battle of Camden, SC (16 Aug 1780). As of 15 Aug 1781 he and his cousin Robert Tinnin were still imprisoned in Halifax, but was paroled shortly thereafter. He returned to Orange County and quickly resumed his rank and position with the Orange Co., militia. He married first in KY, went to MS and then Washington Co., AR; rewed about 1851 in Travis Co., TX and died in the vicinity of Austin, TX. Hartie Hartung = [email protected] _____ All of the children born after 1851 might belong to the second wife. _____ This might give you the Texas connection that you need. Also This Col. Hugh Tinnin is the father of my Azariah Tinnin born in MO and married in Baxter Co., to Amanda Wolf. I still have no idea who the Thomas Tinnin is because a Thomas has never been listed in my Azariah's family that I can find. His birth year would fit in there between other children but with as much work as has been done on the Wolf and Tinnin family, I think he would have been found before now. ha Azariah Tinnina and Amanda went to Bell County TX in 1867 and Azariah died there just three years later. I still need nelp in placing this Thomas Tinnin born in 45. db

Vera, as I was reading through my RAYMOND material, I found where I got the marriage to Winnie FRIX. It is from the RAYMOND family history in the "Baxter County History" book. It identified her as daughter of Joe FRIX, "early settler at Salesville." Just wanted you to know I didn't pull that out of thin air. Peggy
On page 379 of book, "Baxter County History," picture with caption: Mrs. Eliza Jane McNEIL RAYMOND and daughters, Esta Mae (holding their puppy, Argo) and Octavia Faye -- named by Dr. SHEID for his wife. Eliza Jane is quite beautiful. I show: Esta Mae RAYMOND married Herbert Alfred MESSICK, son of William Alfred MESSICK and Alma Irene MOONEY. Octavia Faye RAYMOND married Edwin TRAUTWEIN. Peggy
Thank you, Vera, for the RAYMOND information. I have quite a lot of RAYMOND information because of FINLEY (know of two) marriages into family. But, I didn't have Winnie FRIX information -- just her name. And, as you have posted her family census, she would have been daughter of James A. FRIX -- not Joe FRIX. With your help, I can go in the right direction. Now, to find more information on the incident between Joe FRIX and Jacob Lee Ransom "Rance" SPENCER, resulting in "Rance" SPENCER's death. Will have to confirm, but believe Rance SPENCER and second wife Sarah FRANKS lived in Marion County. I found Land Patent to "Rance SPENCER" signed by President William McKINLEY. For the "umpteen" thousands of times -- Thank you, Vera. Peggy

Bernie, the information on Henry C. FRANKS came to me because I saw post that his daughter, Sarah, married Jacob Lee SPENCER (his second wife). I asked if he was one and same person as Jacob Lee Ransom SPENCER, first married to Elizabeth GEISLER. Turns out to be same person, of course. That's why Mary Ann sent FRANKS - LEE - YOUNG data to me. Sorry I don't know much more about FRANKS. Peggy
Bernie, found Thomas J. SMITH in "Arkansas Land Records" but not in Land Patents. "Arkansas Land Records" shows he acquired the property in 1905. For anyone interested, you can type into your browser "Arkansas Land Records" and the site address will be listed. << Vera, I learned today that Jacob Lee Ransom SPENCER was shot and killed by "Joe" FRIX in 1917. This was apparently a trespassing dispute because SPENCER was hauling wood at the time. It is believed FRIX left the country. Wonder if this is Joseph A. FRIX (b. abt. 1878) who married Mary HENLEY (b. abt. 1879) in Baxter County on 9 November 1899. Did his sister, Winnie FRIX, marry William Harvey RAYMOND (whose wife was Eliza Jane McNEILL)? Their father was also Joseph or Joe FRIX. Would you be able to find any newspaper record? >> Vera, your search for this newspaper article would be appreciated. Since "Rance" SPENCER and Sarah {FRANKS} lived in Marion County, this may have happened there. I haven't checked Mountain Echo (online) published at Yellville. Just wonder if HM&D might have extract (1917) from Baxter Bulletin. I'm sure you noticed that I posted the maiden name of Matilda CANTRELL -- as McFALL -- according to Janie COX. Peggy

It appears this is Charles SPENCER, b. 23 August 1881, d. 14 June 1956 -- the first child of Jacob Lee Ransom "Rance" SPENCER and Elizabeth GEISLER. Now, I'll need to find him in 1910 and 1920 census (possibly Colorado). Niece of Charles and Lillie "Mae" {SPENCER} KING, and daughter of Phoebie Jane {SPENCER} COX, Janie COX (never married) lives in Oregon. Her computer is down right now but expect will hear from her as soon as she's back online; so can verify name of Charles' wife. Meanwhile, going to look for ELSWICK in 1900. Peggy
