    3. Hi I checked the 1920 census for your Teeple(s)...............nothing in Baxter Co. No William T. in Arkansas. There was a William T. Teeple in Greene Co., Illinois, with wife: Lena and children. Nearby is living a James T. Teeple; aged seventy and wife; Isadora W. If you think that this is your family; let me know and I'll post the census record for you. Bernie Moore-Knowles Papa'aloa, Hawai'i "I have Indian blood in me. 1. 1920s-1930s undertakers in Mtn. Home?
    2. Larry McQueary
    3. Hi all, Long time no post! Freshly infused with enthusiasm by my trip to Mtn. Home and Norfork 2 weeks ago, I am back on a task I've been chipping away at for nearly 5 years now -- locating the grave sites of my grandparents. I already know they're not listed in any of the available cemetery censuses, but I'm trying to use other mechanisms to figure out where they're buried. Benjamin Edward Vance ~1888 - April 1925 Florence Mildred (Russell) Vance March 1902 - October 1936 My grandfather died in Franklin and was probably buried in Mtn. Home or Lonoke. My grandmother died in a Batesville hospital and almost *certainly* was buried in Mtn. Home, alongside the rest of her Russell family (her parents, her uncle, her grandparents, her sister and brother-in-law) in the Mountain Home Cemetery. My grandfather died out of town and didn't have an obituary in the Baxter Bulletin, more like a passing mention of his death and the circumstances surrounding it. They were living in Lonoke at the time. My grandmother's obituary states that her funeral was held at the Baptist Church in Mtn. Home with no burial details. So finally, to get to the point, does anyone have any record of who the undertakers were in Mountain Home in the 1920's and/or 1930's? If there are any records, I'd really like to find them. Thanks, Larry

The first is Margie Garr's exhaustive indexing of births, marriages and deaths listed in the Baxter Bulletin from 1909 to 1946: "Hatch, Match, and Dispatch". The indexes to these indexes (ha!) used to be available online. You might try searching for them. More information on ordering them can also be found here: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/2101/margpubs.html The other resource you should be aware of is "Of Grave Importance", compiled by Vera Reeves and possibly others(?) in the Baxter County Genealogical and Historical Society, a document containins censuses of most, if not all, the cemeteries in Baxter County. Vera reads this list, as do others with access to this latter book, so I am sure someone will respond before long. Good luck!

Surnames: Lytle, Lowry, Lewrie, Lurie, Urwell, Arnold Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4U.2ADI/2000 Message Board Post: Hello, I am hoping someone can help me narrow down my search for the death date and burial place of Herbert Andrew Lytle. He is mentioned in his mother's obituary, dated 17 Feb 1939, as living in Mountain Home, Arkansas. I haven't found him in the SSDI, so I would estimate that he died in the 1940s or '50s. I don't know if he died in Arkansas or Wyoming. Herbert A. Lytle was born 14 Mar 1875 in Griggsville, Pike County, Illinois to Spencer Lytle and wife Harriett Lurie/Lowry/Lewrie, etc. He married Ida Bell Urwell, daughter of George Urwell and Sarah Arnold. Ida is buried in Manderson, Big Horn County, Wyoming, where other Lytles lived. However, there is no mention of Herbert's burial there. Ida was born 18 Mar 1877 and d. 23 Apr 1947. I guess I would say I am just at a blank in my mind as to where to look next for Herbert's death and burial. Any suggestions from you would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Laura

    3. I spent a week in Baxter & Marion Counties and have been able to close in on my wife's g-grandparents, James K Taylor & Emeline, who it appears lived in Independence Twp of Baxter Co in 1900-1905, and earlier probably. I exhausted the Mountain Home Library resources with the help of the reference librarian. I took hundreds of pictures of county records (a good digital camera is as good as a scanner & much easier). I met Janie and the others at the Historical & Genealogical society museum in Gassville. I met Mary Ann Messick and we talked about the history of Pilgrim's Rest church and neighborhood. I learned from her of a lost Taylor Cemetery (its still lost unfortunately but it may explain the lack of Taylor graves in the Monkey Run area cemeteries). I talked to the Carsons who have lived all their lives in the area, and many others. Now I have to digest the materials I collected in a whirlwind tour. We enjoyed the White River and the mountains. I wish we could have stayed but the campgrounds were all booked up for the 4th weekend. Anyway, thank you all for the great suggestions and the good list here. Anyone here descended from TAYLORs who lived in Monkey Run/Pilgrim's Ret/Whiteville in Independence Twp? I'm still looking for the sibs of my wife's gfather. -------------------------------- Jeffrey L. Jernegan -------------------------------- On The Road

Interestingly there is a Buford township there today, and no Barren Creek township. I thought I heard they never changed the townships... 1. Martha Finley b. 1847
    2. Dorothy Boynton
    3. Can anyone help me locate a Martha Finley born 1847 and listed as 13 on the 1860 census and in the household of her mother, Lucinda Unknown Finley Winn/Wynn. Possibly her father was Zachariah Finley son of Uziah and Millie Phillips Finley. Zachariah paid taxes in 1844 and the wife Lucinda paid the taxes in 1845. The 1844 date is the last know record for the Zachariah Finley. Perhaps Martha was born to the couple before he died. He died and Lucinda was remarried to Robert B. Winn/Wynn Sr. and they had a son Robert B. Winn, Jr. born in 1849 and a daughter Amanda or Manda Winn born in 1850. Lucinda is shown as the wife of Robert B. Winn/Wynn Sr. for the 1850 census. I know that Robert Winn, Jr. married Annie Wolf, daughter of Michael H. and Agnes Duggins Wolf. I know that Amanda Winn married James Madison Luther, son of Calvin and Sarah Jane Tinnin Luther. I can never find the daughter Martha again so I am guessing that she married and that I do not know her married name and that is the reason I do not find her. If you have any clues, please contact: dbton@yahoo.com Thank you. Dorothy Boynton
