The person who submitted this chart didn't include a name . # 8 Jackson-- as I said I have a lot of Jackson info but haven't put it together. My interest in the Jackson line is this--my grandfather had a half sister, Dona Landers-Ellison who married Roscoe "Red" Jackson. Without going into the full story--while Roscoe was awaiting his hanging date in Galena Missouri, a preacher came to visit with him. The preachers name was Rev Whittenberg. I can't help but believe that my Jackson line is connected to David Jackson who married Ophra Henderson. If anyone is willing and has the want to-- I can provide a lot Jackson info . # 9 I have a few obits of some Henderson's who lived in Baxter Co--most list a parents name--would it help any if I post them to this forum ?

Exactly the discussion I was hoping this would generate. #1 I have no proof that Shadrack's first name was William. In my searching for info about him--I have found a William Henderson and wife Sarah who had a son named Shadrack. The above William's father was named Shadrack. And our Shadrack named his son William. I came across some info about the Henderson's once that had a W in front of Shadrack's name. I assumed it to be William and have left it that way until more positive info happens. The W might have been an error or a typo-but I hold on to any scrap of info I can get !! #2 "1860 LaClede Co Mo census--Shadrack and wife Mouncy with son Benjamin " Shadrack was married before Mahala ?? Nina-- I should have ask that question of you before now. Don't know why I didn't. Did both Mouncy and Benjamin die? I've seen the info that Shadrack was married to a Mouncy Catherine but then the daughter Mouncy Catherine threw a wrench into my figuring out the relationship. I do recall that there was spectulation that the first wife was related to Mahala ? Right ? #3 Drew being born in Missouri-- I will correct my information to include that. I didn't know. #4 Annie being Mary Ann--yes-you are correct. Thats the way she is identified on my land papers when they divided the property. I hope you or anyone who has Coleman info will provide me with it. Would love to know about Annie. #5 Isa Casner-- I have it Kasner. It was typed as a K in the info I found. I'll change that as well. Interesting about the Kasinger spin-- could Isa also be Isabelle ? Whose daughter would she be ? #6 I have photo of both Shadrack and Mahala--he for sure looks of Indian descent--Mahala is just a very pretty lady and I really don't see Indian in her but I wouldn't be accepted as a judge for anything !! The article in the Senior Focus about Sarah Belle Henderson -Foster had her being 3/4 Cherokee thru her mother. I wondered about that claim at the time but hey I don't know--(see above sentence about me being judge). I hunt for clues ---- gather and keep any I find. I know there was something else I needed to talk about but have to quit for now. Later

I agree he married first Fannie Boatman. However, in "Hatch, Match, and Dispatch, Book #9, Jan. 1947 through Dec. 1949", in January 24, 1947 issue, Brad Parks married Mrs. Bertha Crawford (Pidgeon Twp.). Does anyone know when he divorced Fannie? And, does anyone know when he divorced Bertha? Because, I know he left Fannie and the children and kept company with this Bertha Rife Crawford, who lived at Howard Ridge. But, after many years of being away from Aunt Fannie, they must have gotten married again, because the last time I saw them they were living together on the Morgan Farm outside of Mountain Home. Regarding Myrtle Parks. Her first husband was Samuel Thomas Cowart, and her second husband was William Provow. Regarding Commodore Perry Parks. His first wife was Ila Meeks, daughter of Robert C., and Arzona Maynard Meeks of Gamaliel. His second wife was Mary Standage, daughter of Charlie and Julia Beaver Standage. His third wife was Madge Lewis Muier. She was a daugher of Benjamin F. and Callie Condit Lewis, and the widow of Samuel Muier. Regarding Henry Parks. Does anyone have proof that his name was Ivory Joe Henry Parks? In the census records, his birth certificate, death certificate, all have his name as Henry Ray Parks. Now, Uncle Henry may have been called several names for a variety of reasons, and perhaps justifiably so. But, I have never heard Ivory Joe. Could I have the source please? Nina Parks Bird

All census records and Civil War pension records, plus his homestead on his farm, list him as Shadrack only. There was a William S. Henderson in the early history of Baxter Co., but this is not the Shadrack who married Mahala Jane Whittenburg. In the Addendum to the 1860 Census of LaClede Co. MO, Shadrack Henderson and wife Mouncy are listed with son Benjamin. They are neighbors of Jesse and Rachel Whittenburg, the parents of Mahala Jane. Census records show Drew Henderson to have been born in MO. Drew's son Lonzo told me that Drew moved to AR as a child with his parents and Aunt Mary "Polly" Whittenburg. About Sarah Belle Henderson that she was 3/4s Cherokee Indian. There have always been rumors about the indian connection. I have looked briefly for it to no avail. Please, somebody show proof. If my great Aunt Belle Foster was 3/4s indian, it should be easy to find out how. Somebody must have names if this is true. Annie Henderson's name was Mary Ann. She married George Coleman. I realize that this makes two of the children of Shadrack and Mahala Jane as having the name Mary. One was Mary Matilda who married William Tripp, and the other was this Mary Ann who married George Coleman. Many of the Whittenburg families, for some reason, had two different daughters in the same family by the name Mary.

Somebody must have names if this is true.>> I have been reading along with all of you regarding the Henderson and Parks families. One of my Dentons intermarried with the lines and I always have interest and am basically nosey, I suppose! LOL I just wanted to comment on the difficulty of proving your Indian ancestry. It is very difficult and you may never find the proof that you are seeking. There is in all probability no written proof for you. The removal rolls are full of native names - not European ones and unless you can translate? It is just very, very difficult. All tribal members for present days tribes are basing their membership by the flawed Dawes Commission, that we are all very familiar with. Before that? Could your family have been Old Settler migrators? It's very possible with the Tennessee to Missouri to Arkansas routes. For those that do not know; the Old Settlers preceded the Trail of Tears. A part of my family were Old Settler. I suppose what I want to say is do not discount the family stories of Indian blood lines. Rumors? I grew up with a near half blood quantum Mother of Shawnee descent. Do I need proof? No. For what reason? My mother's word and her face and mannerisms were enough for me. Course, those Indian reunions that I went to in my childhood could add to my family's presence, perhaps? Until almost the turn of the century; Indians were not enumerated on census records as such..............unless they were living within the Indian Territory boundaries. I have found one exception with one of my female Denton ancestors. She was enumerated as an Indian servant living in a White Franklin household in the borders of present day Stone Co., Arkansas in 1860. That is the only one that I have found - with the word "Indian" in black and white. In every single census record of my grandfather's that I have found; he was enumerated as White. He was not. He was near full blood (With I am sure some White blood thrown in for merit?)..............but, his wife was White. Never any mention of Indian in any record for him or his birth family. Explore those family rumors, folks. Most all of our ancestors were originally from the deep South and you can bet that there is either Indian or Black bloodlines there in many of our families. Just some thoughts. Bernie Moore-Knowles Papa'aloa, Hawai'i "I have Indian blood in me. 3. Dorothy and all The information that I have is a bit dated - but, you are welcome to look over this chart. Florence Hopper's mother was Sarah Jane Smothers and my family - thus my interest. About the only thing that I caught was that "Beulah" was the daughter of Martha Carter and it appears that Martha probably died from complications of childbirth - but, I don't think that Beulah was Dena's daughter - but, Martha's.
