Today, November 18, 2008, the Arkansas Gravestone Project, URL: http://arkansasgravestones.org/ , has uploaded over 100,000 pictures of gravestones from Arkansas. Ashley County has only 99 gravestones on our website. My name is Rita Foster Wallace, the daughter of Harold & Elizabeth Foster, granddaughter of Jessie & Cynthia Jane (White) Foster.  I am also the county coordinator for Ashley & Chicot County, Arkansas. I reside in Cold Spring, Kentucky but am very interested in Ashley County history. Yesterday, after spending the weekend deer hunting, my father and nephew completed photographing Mount Pleasant Cemetery where most of our Foster family is buried.   I'm looking for volunteers to help me with this project by providing digital images of any and all gravestones you have in your collections and who would like to see genealogy information free on the Internet. Arkansas is not the only state working on the Gravestone Projects. This is just one way to give back to all those who have come before us in the genealogy field. Most of us don't have the time or the money to do original research in the states where our ancestors resided before they came to Arkansas. This project is a great resource for all of us.
