I am beginning to think a space ship dropped these people off in Ashley Co, AR. DeBastrop Twp: 1870 census says that Eleck Stuart was born in Mississippi and Amanda was born in TN. There is another female living in their HH, but I cannot make out the name, she too was born in TN. The unknown female's age is illegible except for the fact she is in her mid to late 50's. 1880 Alexander is listed as being bn in TN; same for Amanda. In their HH there is a John Falkner, my great-grandfather, who later took the name John W. Stewart (or was he adopted?, and an Armand Griffith. There is only one other HH with the name Falkner: J. Falkner 40 bn in GA, Mary 23 bn in AR and stepsons John Turner 6 AR & Joseph White 4 LA. Stepsons parents bn in AR. 1900 Alexander Stewart's HH: Alx Stewart, Amanda Stewart, Mary Williams, niece, John W. Stewart, son, Lula M. Stewart, DIL, and grandchildren. Alexander died either Nov 1900 or 1901 and Amanda died 1905. John Falkner/Stewart disappeared(?) somewhere between the time Alexander and Amanda died. I am trying to figure out how John came to live with the Stewarts. On the 1880 census he is listed as being born in Louisiana and his parents born in Alabama. Amanda is too old to be John's mother and there are no other children. And did he really abandon his family? Family folklore says he was missing a leg; something about a gator getting it. His bestfriend was Evans McClintock who is buried in Parkdale Cemetery. Is there anyone out there who can help me with this? Please! Lisa Wagner
