Hi, I'm new to the list and am just beginning my research on "one" of my PHILLIPS lines. My g-grandmother was Martha Frances "Frannie" PHILLIPS, b. 17 Mar 1878 in Hamburg, Ashley Co., AR, mar. Wilson "Will" Elisha UPSHAW, and died 07 Mar 1918 in Spearsville, Union Par., LA. Her father was Thadrick PHILLIPS who married Martha BRYAN (?BRYANT). I think they stayed in AR. A great aunt told me that she thought Thadrick's father was named Zachariah PHILLIPS. I found the following information in "The Arkansas Gazette Obituaries Index 1819-1879" by Stephen J. Chison: p. 78 PHILLIPS, Zachariah 1873 May 18 - p.01, col. 02 Does anyone know how I can get a copy of the obit. or at least find out the information in it? I've never done an obit. search before. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Donna Walker Eddins dleddins@airmail.net TX
You just have to contact the newspaper that carried the obit and request a copy of it. Usually they have a small charge for their time. I have requested several and they can be very helpful. > -----Original Message----- > From: Donna Eddins [mailto:dleddins@airmail.net] > Sent: Saturday, January 13, 2001 5:05 PM > To: ARASHLEY-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [ARASHLEY] PHILLIPS > > > Hi, > I'm new to the list and am just beginning my research on "one" of my > PHILLIPS lines. > My g-grandmother was Martha Frances "Frannie" PHILLIPS, b. 17 Mar 1878 > in Hamburg, Ashley Co., AR, mar.
