Pat, I have a Dr. John Harris from Alabama. I don't know if he was born there or not. I have not been able to find out. He married Geneva Josephine Ozment in Drew County. I have the children's names and some info on them, if this is your line. Or if you want it to look over it and see if there is a connection. My paternal grandmother, Bertha (Birtha) Harris. She died delivering twins in Wichita Falls, TX in 1901. Her husband, Charles Andrew Nixon, disappeared on a cattle drive and that is all I an find out. My father was then adopted by the Dr. J.L. Parkers in Snyder, Ark. We do know Bertha's dad was John Harris out of Bedford, IN. So, I don't know if they were in Ashley CO or not. Dear Researchers, Robert Hill and Nancy Carruth Hill are buried at Adam-Singer Cemetery, Hermitage Highway, Bradley County, Arkansas. I have found Nancy's connection concerning the Carruth and her family in Louisiana, however, I need some help with Robert Hill. First I am finding conflicting data as to his Birth year. 1880 US Federal Census, Arkansas, Ashley County, Beech Tree Township states: 46/48 HILL Robert W M 57 SELF Farmer AL TN VA HILL Nancy W F 37 Wife Housekeeping MS GA VA POWELL William W M 11 Stepson AR MS MS HILL Robert P. W F 2 Daughter AR AL MS Now for my question: I've seen his year of birth as three different ways: 1818 1823 and 1828 Also, I have found a HILL with the birthing information for a John Hill TN and a Margaret Hill VA, located in the 1850 US Federal Census, Alabama, Talledega County, Talladega District, Page 366, Roll: M432_15 that has below John and Margaret Hill, what looks to be sons, Robert Hill and James, just below them is an Alexander Hill, who looks to be a possible brother/nephew of John Hill. 253/259 John Hill 50 M Farmer V5000 Tennessee Margaret 52 F V Virginia Franklin M Stading (?) 25 M Labor V Ala Robert Russell 18 M (??) V Ala George W Hill 12 M V Ala 254/260 Robert Hill 28 M Farmer V550 Ala Nancy L. 27 F V Georgia David 8 M Alabama Uriah 7 M Arkansas Susan J. 5 F Arkansas This Nancy L. wouldn't be the Nancy that he is buried beside, and must be a former wife, if conclusion is correct. Please contact me privately to discuss Robert & Nancy (Carruth) Hill. Carolann St. John Sweetkinfolk@aol.com
Does anyone know where a Hattie and Jarrett Doss are buried and the dates. His first name might be spelled Jarred. Thanks Tanya

Beyond Bartholomew is a great book, so I have been told. Rebecca is a great writer and has done a wonderful job in researching for her books. I don't know if she still has some for sale or not. Tanya

[I think it was you that helped me with these before.....and I'm hopeful the copy you have now will reveal my ancestors which I have been unable to find so far 1. My g-mother Mattie Dell Poole [maiden name Woods] b: Feb 1882 d: Abt. Aug. 1904 2. Her infant son David Poole b: 1904 d: Abt. Aug 5th 1904 Notes: per Newspaper article found on microfilm in The Ashley County Library, Hamburg, Arkansas "August 11, 1904: The baby child of Mr. Martin Poole of Milo died last Friday." [Kathynn insert: Last Friday -Aug. 5th? - This indicates the baby may have lived a short time after mother Mattie died during childbirth [we were always told they both died in childbirth]. Martin Poole is Mattie's husband. I know Mattie and Martin lived in White, Ashley Co.AR [near LA line]. when my mother [their dtr.] was born 1902. They may have still lived there when this baby was born, Mattie may have died during birth and may have been buried near White somewhere. Leaving Martin to come back and bring the baby to the area nearer her parents in Milo where the baby died a short time later? Mattie's parents Samuel Hardy Woods and Louisa [Ford] Woods lived in Carter Township, Milo Community and are buried in Judson cemetery [near Hamburg], although Mattie is not found in Judson. 3. Robert Simenton & Emily C. Woods [maiden name Strickland]. Ashley County. Emily b: abt. 1813 - d: aft. 6/15/1867 Robert Simenton b: abt 1812 - d: bet 1864 -1867 Thanks for any help rendered. Kathlynn [in TX - but from AR]
I am also interested in this cemetery. Is there a cemetery book that can be bought or is there a new one coming out soon. I would love to purchase one, if so. Thanks Tanya
I know nothing about this cemeteryas my people are buried at the Snyder cemetery. There is a book, possibly you know of it, written about the Portland area. It names many people from that area back some time ago. I did not leave then or even in Ark. but it was fun reading the book since some of my people are mentioned. I looked in the back and could not find that particulary cemetery mentioned at all. It is called Beyond Bartholomew about a bayou area.
