No it is not a silly question at all, Earlene. These indexes are to the books that I have recently compiled from the microfilmed newspapers of Crawofrd County. If you don't live near Arkansas and would like to see the newspapers, it is very possible that your Local LDS center will order the microfilmed newspaper for your on loan from their main library in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have transcribed the articles from the newspapers but understand that it might not be worth the risk to buy a book not knowing if the person mentioned in the news item is indeed your ancestor. I believe the fee is $3 for your local LDS to order the film for you but don't quote me on that price. Thanks for your inquiry! ----- Original Message ----- From: <EMenden@aol.com> To: <AR-OLD-NEWSPAPERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 25, 2001 1:40 PM Subject: Re: [AR-OLD-NEWS] Arkansas Intelligencer 1843-1858 Volume 1 A-D > I have what probably is a stupid question, but I am going to ask it anyway. > > I've seen a couple of names that could be possibilities for some of my > surnames, but knowing a page # won't help if I am nowhere near Arkansas or > anywhere that would have these resources.
