    3. Glenda In the Arkansas Intelligencer and the Van Buren Press, I see and have extracted many items pertaining to the old steamships that plied the Arkansas River. I have seen the Muskogee mentioned many times and I will see what I can find for you pertaining to this steamship. I am hoping to eventually do an extrentsive research on the old steamboats of the Arkansas River and have been earmarking information about the Steamships and the Captains for this purpose! Will let you know if I can find anything helpful for you. I am looking for information about my gggrandfather. His name is Samuel David Streeter. He was being divorced in September of 1851 by Martha M. Streeter in Jackson Co. AR ( the part around Augusta is now Woodruff Co). He failed to appear. According to the divorce papers it had further information in the White River Commercial. I am told there are no existing copies of the paper. The last census I have for him is 1850 in Phillips Co. Arkansas living in the household of Zemeri Barney who was a farmer. Samuel is listed as a laborer. However, family stories say that he owned, operated, or other wise worked on a riverboat in the White River. According to the story his boat sank and he drowned. If any one has any information about either his divorce or his ship ( might be the Muskogee) and his drowning I would appreciate you contacting me. If you know of another way to search that would be helpful too. You may use the list or contact me off the list! > at gromine@bscn.com. > Thank you for taking the time to read about this 'brick wall' of mine. > Glenda Romine > > > ==== AR-OLD-NEWSPAPERS Mailing List ==== > List Moms, for the AR-OLD-NEWSPAPERS-Diana Boothe and Fran Warren. > AR-OLD-NEWSPAPERS-admin@lists2.rootsweb.com Thanks, Fran!! > > ============================== > Visit Ancestry.com for a FREE 14-Day Trial and enjoy access to the #1 > Source for Family History Online.
