He is noted as being Married, but there is no reference to his wife in the Census. (Landgate is a street, running down from the Landgate which is the only remaining gateway from the time when Rye was surrounded by a town wall - It was also the name of my House at School. I am very doubtful about the accuracy of William's date of Birth, I think it is his baptism, not his birth date. That needs checking. There is a James Sellman in the 1851 Census for Rye.
