Robin, Don't despair! A distant cousin in San Francisco and I searched all over for the birth of a Clement Richardson, son of Angelina Apps alias Barnes alias Richardson. I eventually found a register for the Rye, Sussex, Workhouse and there he was Clement Apps the son of Jemima Apps! Why weren't we looking for that all the time. We believe that Angelina and Jemima Apps were one and the same person. Clement was baptised on the same day as Angelina was buried. But that's another story. Don't give up. The 1901 census may shed some light, less than a month to go before it comes on-line. Talking of Apps - which was my mother's surname - another distant Apps cousin has sent me some Melbourne, Victoria, Australia register extracts which shows the family of William George Apps and Mary Ann Killick. They were married in 1857 and I believe had a family as follows William James Apps b. 1858 Coll'wood d. 1861 Melbourne Mary Margaret Apps b. 1860 Fitzroy m. 1884 to Frank Usher Edward Thomas b. 1861 m. 1881 Jane Tyrie 4 children Sarah Ann Apps b. 1863 Collingwood William George b. 1865 Fitz. d. 1866 Fitz. Arthur Apps b. 1866 Fitz. Alfred Apps b. 1868 C'wood d. 1869 Fitz. George William Apps b. 1869 Rachel Apps b. 1870 d. 1871 Bertha Amelia Apps b. 1872 Walter Montgomery Apps b. 1873 d 1874 Eliza Apps b.1876 d. 1874 Infant mortality rate looks quite high, I don't know if that was common in Australia at that time. Does anyone know of either the parents I am interested in both names! Best Regards, Clive Killick 7 Goodliffe Gardens, Tilehurst, Reading RG31 6FZ.
