I can find Edward Apps Smith b:1830 in the later census but while he was younger it seems he didn't go by Apps Smith, I have no clue as to who his parents were so I don't know where to start searching. Was it normal for people back then to keep changing their place of birth? In one census it states Fulham and in another it states Brompton, I know it is the same person because he was my Ggreat grandmothers first husband & her details never changed at all, other than her last name that is, one census she's Apps Smith and in another she is Smith, but it is undoubtedly her.
