VA; will bk 4, p. 670-671. In the name of Gos, Amen. I Ann Applewhite, being weak of Body but of sound mind do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament. To wit: I lend to my son, William Applewhite, my 3 slaves, George, Will, and Isabel, until my son Thomas Applewhite arrivres to the age of twenty one years, at which time I give and devise the aforesaid slaves to my said son Thomas Applewhite, to him and his heirs forever, provided he, the sd son Thomas Applewhite, does faithfully and punctually pay, within twelve months after his arrival to the aforesaid age of twenty one, the sum of £100 which paid money I direct to be divided into 5 Equal parts. I give to my daughter Mary Barham £20; to my 3 sons John, Hardy, and William Applewhite £20 each, and to the 4 children of Jesse Cooper, £20 to be equally divided. I give and devise the remainder of my estate, of whatever kind or quality, to be equally divided amongst my Eleven children. Viz: John, Hardy, Benjamin, William, and Thomas Applewhite, my five sons, and Mary Barham, Sally DeSheil, Priscilla Jordan, Jean Applewhite, Rebecca Applewhite, and Nancy Applewhite, my six daughters.
