I have worked on this line for the last 20 plus years and just found the marriage for Jacob Applegate in Madison Co Ohio this year. 8 Jan 1826 and John his father was suppose to be living in next county of Champaign. Jacob and his father and siblings moved on to Hamilton co. IN about then and sources say John died at 83 years from a log falling on him during a barn raising. His son Daniel married a Margaret Wire? Wise and lived in Hamilton and their son John W Applegate was written up in the Potrait and Biographical of the county. Sister Elizabeth married Jacob Coon in Madison co. Ohio and moved to Piatt Co. IL, sister Sarah married a Ross and moved to Piatt Co. IL. Jacob and Aura or Orra Simpkins Applegate moved by 1841 Aug to Logan Co IL when daughter Mariah married Thomas Hurst in Sangamon Co. IL Going back now, John Applegate married a Mary Newman or Gump --does anyone have any sources for this ?? He was born in New Jersey, Freehold Monmouth Co NJ according to history in Hamilton co. IN. His parents Ebenezer Applegate and Mary Burge --no source for marriage and a lot of people have a different Ebenezer that married Irons as the parents. Dates are not quite right for that??? Jacob Applegate and Catherine Manlees married in Monmouth Co. 8 Aug 1763 --but I have found no parents for Catherine in Monmouth or anyplace else. A nebulous date of birth 174?? Anything anyone could add would be appreciated. Daniel Applegate and Rebecca Tilton d/of Peter and Rebecca Brazier ?? Seems pretty well sourced ??? Wills and land records. Bratholomew Applegate and Hannah Patrick d/of Daniel Patrick and Anna van ____ land records and various sources cite this. Then Thomas and Elizabeth Wall --seems pretty well documented. I corresponded MANY years ago with Hugh Voress and he helped me very much, but I know there seems to be errors in some dates and lines. But we have to remember he was working on this before Internet and did most of his work by handwritten notes. I am sure there is errors in many lines on Rootsweb now but I am trying to sort the best documented to add to a file about a foot thick. Therefore, will appreciate any input!! I am doing so just now for one about my ggg-grandparents in VA & WVA.
