Lots of folks cant get back more than 2 or 3 hundred years. 2 or 3 hundred years would be a gold mine in a lot of cases. :-) In my case, after years of being stuck, I found information on the Internet that my Richard Applegate born ca 1815 in Kentucky is son of James Applegate and Charity Norman and can be tracked back eventually to Thomas Applegate Sr. born ca 1600. This matches the very limited information I found in my research but I would like to see better proof if it exists. The real problem is that I am having absolute fits finding the descendents of Richard Applegate (ca 1815 KY - 1891 KY or OH) and wife Rebecca Spriggs (ca 1830 OH - 1888 KY or OH) except for of course my connecting ancestor. Some of Richard and Rebecca's 11 kids disappear without any trace of a marriage, death or burial record. Some get married and immediately disappear from all further records including census. One son disappeared for decades only to be found dead in 1930 on a bridge between Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. This applegate family spent time in or near Newport, Campbell County, Kentucky and in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio and possibly other unknown locations. Are there any cousins out there thinking any of this sounds like their family??? If so please give me a yell and we can exchange information. Daryl
