After years of searching by my cousins, especially the excellent research done by Ladell (APPLEGATERME@aol.com ) I have FINALLY located the parents of our Samuel Applegate. Ladell had surmised that the Julian Applegate located in Caernarvon, Lancaster, PA in the 1850 Census was Samuel's mother. It appears that his father is deceased by this time. I found William Applegate in Caernarvon, Lancaster, PA in 1830 and 1840 Censuses and in Earl Township in 1820. The children, ages, locations all match up pretty closely. It makes it pretty easy since they were the only Applegate's in Lancaster County for most of those years.
