    2. Actually I do not think this family relates to Jesse Applegate. The were in a different part of Oregon and in Washington. Before that Iowa, Kansas and seems to me the parents were from Penn from the census records. I will get into that as soon as I get my computer up and running. I am on my laptop and it is hard to access information. I know there was a William Applegate in Lee Co., Iowa in 1850. Maybe we can kick up the Applegate site with some information??? Coral

    2. Becky Applegate
    3. My husband's aunt had an old photo postcard of a small girl (about 6 years old) holding a doll. Written on the postcard was "Celesta Applegate, New York City, NY, Nov. 5, 1911." On the back, the studio name is printed: Bachelor Studio, 419 Sixth Ave., New York City. I do not know of any connection to her (our branch is more midwest), so if anyone can tell me anything about Celesta, or would like to see the picture, please respond. Thank you. 1. [APPLEGATE] Norma APPLEGATE
    2. MARGAREt DAVIS
    3. Hello, My name is Margaret and I am new to this list. Admittedly, I am "clutching at straws" with this request, but I hope someone will be able to fill in some blanks. My cousin, was Norma Applegate, d. April 2?, 1993, in White Plains, NY. Norma was a schoolteacher and taught in the Bronx. She was also interested in Library Science and was attempting to get a degree in that field. In that endeavor, she wrote a book entitle, "The Grand OLd Lady of Grand Street", which is about the library in White Plains. She lived for many years with her sister Nellie (Elinor?) and neither sister married. My cousin, has found some clues that indicate the Norma was also interested in genealogy. With that thought I mind I would love to discover any papers or notes she may have left. I have no idea of who her named heirs were. She wrote the obituary for my guncle, Edward C. REGAN, in which she states he was the grandson of Lady Peggy FINN, of Dublin. I would love to find out more about Lady Peggy. Any help or clues would be MOST appreciated. I am always happy to share info and sources. Thank you, Margaret in NV

    1. [APPLEGATE] William APPLEGATE Family In Lancaster County, PA
    2. Tiffany
    3. After years of searching by my cousins, especially the excellent research done by Ladell (APPLEGATERME@aol.com ) I have FINALLY located the parents of our Samuel Applegate. Ladell had surmised that the Julian Applegate located in Caernarvon, Lancaster, PA in the 1850 Census was Samuel's mother. It appears that his father is deceased by this time. I found William Applegate in Caernarvon, Lancaster, PA in 1830 and 1840 Censuses and in Earl Township in 1820. The children, ages, locations all match up pretty closely. It makes it pretty easy since they were the only Applegate's in Lancaster County for most of those years. I would be happy to share and/or exchange with others researching this line. :) To summarize my findings: Applegate, William State: Pennsylvania Year: 1820 County: Lancaster Roll: M33_106 Township: Earl Page: 217 Image: 125 Transcription of 1820 Listing: William Applegate Males: 0/10 1; 26/45 1; Females: 0/10 2; 26/45 1 Applegate, William State: Pennsylvania Year: 1830 County: Lancaster Roll: M19_153 Township: Ceamarvon Page: 178 Image: 354 Transcription of 1830 Listing: William Applegate Males: 0/5 1; 10/15 1; 40/50 1; Females: 0/5 1; 5/10 2; 10/15 1; 20/30 1 Aplegate, William State: Pennsylvania Year: 1840 County: Lancaster Roll: M704_467 Township: Caernarvon Page: 472 Image: 291 Transcription of 1840 Listing: William Applegate Males: 50/60 1; Females: 5/10 1; 10/15 1; 15/20 1; 40/50 1 Applegate, Julian (female, wife of William) State: Pennsylvania Year: 1850 County: Lancaster Roll: M432_789 Township: Caernarvon Twp Page: 395 Image: 787 Transcription of 1850 Listing: 145/151 Julian Applegate age 59 F William age 22 M Stonemason Elizabeth age 19 F John age 7 M The page seems to suggest that everyone was born in PA including Julian.
