    3. Hi Becky, We 'talked' before about Isaac's grandfather Richard Derrick Applegate of Mason Co (northwest part). Since then I have a little more about his son Vincent - father of Isaac Newton- That is a wonderful bio on NEB site and most of it can be supported by KY records. - The only points to be questioned are the number of sons of Vincent and where he first lived in Ohio. Vincent never appears in any KY census although some of his children were born there. After his 1824 marriage as reported in Ohio paper (I sent you this before), he is found 1830 in Brown Co, OH Pleasant Twp. (just west of Ripley which is in Union Twp) and he has two sons and one daughter under age of 5. [note TWO sons =b 1825/30]. In 1840 he is on the Brown Co, OH census in Pike Twp which is farther north in the county - as males 122001---- females 101001--- [Note FIVE sons -two oldest age 10/15] 1850 Brown Co, OH, Pike Twp, HH 1295 Vincent Applegate 54 farmer $1000 b. KY Ann " 42 b. Maryland Rachel " 22 b. OH Milton L. " 20 b. OH Isaac N. " 18 b. KY Benjamin (?F) " 15 b. KY Mahlon " 13 b. KY Cordelia " 11 b. KY Eliza " 8 Hugh Lemon 63 brickmason b. Maryland [Ann's father] Note that there are only FOUR sons here - the same as reported in his NEB Bio but in 1830 and 1840 he had another older male. Reportedly, Vincent's oldest son Richard born 1825 KY , died 1849 in OH Also in Brown Co, Ohio Gen Web I find: 1) Brief bio of Vincent, saying that he came to Pike Twp in 1836 and lived on the Williamsburg-New Hope Rd. ---Williamsburg is in eastern ClermontCo, town of New Hope is in Brown Co but in Scott Twp. I am not familiar with this road but if it was fairly direct between those two towns, it could pass through the very southwest part of Pike Twp. (nice map of Brown Co townships on GenWeb site) 2) Vincent Applegate is on a list of Justices of Peace in Pike Twp.as serving for 6 years but no dates are given. 3) Benjamin F. Applegate (his son?) is listed as a charter member of I.O.O.F. 1875 Pike Twp. Hope this helps in some way even though I can't explain Vincent always on Ohio censuses but younger children born in KY. It was so good of you to spend the time sharing with the list. I hope you do more if you think of other things that you did on the trip. You deserve a special "thumbs up" for that email! Thank you, thank you. Coral

    2. I got my Skookum book from ebay for $5. It was in very good condition so check it out. I am not sure my Applegates connect but it is very interesting. I have been to the area but did not do the Applegate vacation. That was really great and I appreciated every word she wrote. It was a nice surprise and good information. Coral
