Hello Applegate Researchers, After years of searching by my cousins, especially the excellent research done by Ladell Applegate Wiggins (applegaterme@aol.com) We think we have located the parents of our Samuel Applegate. Ladell had surmised that the Julian Applegate located in Caernarvon, Lancaster, PA in the 1850 Census was Samuel's mother. It appears that his father is deceased by this time. There is a Henry Applegate in the 1850 Census that does not appear to be related to ours. I found William Applegate in Caernarvon, Lancaster, PA in 1830 and 1840 Censuses and in Earl Township in 1820. The children, ages, locations all match up pretty closely. It makes it pretty easy since they were the only Applegate's in Lancaster County for most of those years.
