Hi my applegate brick wall is Robert Applegate b. Monmouth County, new Jersey married Mary..(no one knows her last name) Their daughter Susan or susannah married my direct ancestor Walter Kerr (Carr) Robert Applegate, born Mar. 13, 1759 near Princeton, NJ; died 1848 at Mauchport, Harrison Co., Ind. He married Mary________, born ; died . He served in the Revolutionary War; his declaration of May 15, 1843 in Harrison Co., Ind. stated that he had volunteered under Gen. Hand and Col. Gibson; later he was drafted at Walltowers Station in Westmoreland Co., Pa. "One tour of service was a a substitute for his father who gave him a good farm for doing it". He was also a private under Capt. Minton, Youghiogheny Co., Va. In Pa. S. Ser. V. 4, p428, Robert is listed as a private in Westmoreland and a private in the Continental Line. In 1782, Robert Applegate acknowledged receiving several sums annexed to his name. In 1786, Robert Applegate, single, was taxed 10.6. In the 1790 census, he was listed as having 2 sons and 1 daughter. In 1791, he was taxed 1.0. On Apr. 15, 1801, he received 100 acres of land called "Apple Orchard" in Elizabeth Twp., from his parents. This land was sold to James Wall, Jr. on Apr. 1, 1842 with Robert, Irwin, Mary, and Catherine signing the deed. if any of this sounds familiar I would appreciate any information....trying to find out more of this walter Kerr, and also the Applegate families thanks for any help...Kim ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

I drove my lawn mower over my brick wall. Smashed up the front end. Wrecked the blades. Caught my privates in the steering wheel. The wall was almost undamaged. Why do you ask? How you all doing on your brick walls ? Dan M admin
I just came across a message from you from August of this year. Regarding Edith Applegate and who her father was. The information I have in that her father was William Applegate born about 1730 in Monmouth County, NJ. I don't have when he died. He was married to Hannah Potter on October 28,. 1747. I have no other information on Hannah. William's parents were Daniel Applegate and Hannah? Daniel was born 1678 and died in 1751. No info on his mother. I don't have any other children listed for Daniel. But William had another daughter, Mary who married Daniel Boice. I hope this is correct information and that it will help you a bit. It was given to me by some one else on the internet and I have been searching for verification myself. Rhonda L. Cowan
Pat. Sorry it took so long for me to answer, but I just got a idea, did you get a copy of their marriage license maybe it would give you some info you need. I am doing so just now for one about my ggg-grandparents in VA & WVA. Herein is a Mary APPLEGATE btw 20 and 30 with 2 daughters under 5. Any ideas as to who this family is and what became of them. I found a Mrs. Mary Applegate m. 1821 to John Ginn. That's the only close marriage I found. I wonder if this is mother, sister and Clarinda APPLEGATE. Clarinda m. 1843 in Vermilion Co., IL David MURROW, was of Parke Co., IN before and after marriage and then to Poweshiek Co., IA where she remained until her death in 1892. She was b. 1826 in Mason Co., KY.
Mary Margaret Applegate Clay died Friday, September 8, 2006 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born March 15, 1935, at Spiceland, Henry Co., IN. She was the first Miss Henry County. In 1953 she married Walter Ringel Clay who survives along with two daughters, Carolyn Jane Clay (Dr. Mark A.) Truax, Crawfordsville, Janet Sue Clay (James E.) Putnam, Knightstown; one brother, Theodore Philip (Betty) Applegate, Spiceland; one sister, Esther D. Applegate; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip Clifford and Dorothy Elizabeth Black Applegate and a brother, Earl Douglas Applegate. I don't tie to this family and this is all the information I received. Pat
Pat, Here is what I have that I found in searching the internet. Cornelius father was Amos Sutton, born July 16, 1723, Piscataway, Middlesex City, NJ. Mother Jane Clawson [Eropean spelling Claes] born April 3, 1728, Montgomery, Somerset City, NJ. I am not related to the Elizabeth Applegate that some say was american indian. I am related as Sutton, Maxson, to Smith in Ohio. At 06:54 PM 9/7/2006, you wrote: >Hello: Are you related to Elizabeth Applgate who was supposed to of been >narried to Cornellius Sutton of Monmouth Co? Not that I know of. Right now I am in the middle of trying to iron out a major error in marriage and children birth dates. I feel sure I have a second wife in place of the first one and it is messing up the date lines. Catherine Manlees that supposedly married Jacob Applegate in Aug 0f 1763 is surely NOT Ebenezer Applegate's mother with his birthday of 1742 before she was born !!! And FTM let me enter this LOL It is always telling me the mother is not old enough or some such and it let this slip through. Thanks to Pat Mount she caught it. So I still need input but back to square 1 on Jacob and son Ebenezer. And Ebenezer is surely not the same one that married Mary Burge abt 1744, his first child is supposedly John 1770 that married a Newman or a widow Gump. In one fell swoop I have knocked out the three middle Applegate lines so I have a BIG gap between John dying in Noblesville, Hamilton co. IN and Daniel Applegate marrying Rebecca Tilton about 1687 -- Kay

I have worked on this line for the last 20 plus years and just found the marriage for Jacob Applegate in Madison Co Ohio this year. 8 Jan 1826 and John his father was suppose to be living in next county of Champaign. Jacob and his father and siblings moved on to Hamilton co. IN about then and sources say John died at 83 years from a log falling on him during a barn raising. His son Daniel married a Margaret Wire? Wise and lived in Hamilton and their son John W Applegate was written up in the Potrait and Biographical of the county. Sister Elizabeth married Jacob Coon in Madison co. Ohio and moved to Piatt Co. IL, sister Sarah married a Ross and moved to Piatt Co. IL. Jacob and Aura or Orra Simpkins Applegate moved by 1841 Aug to Logan Co IL when daughter Mariah married Thomas Hurst in Sangamon Co. IL Going back now, John Applegate married a Mary Newman or Gump --does anyone have any sources for this ?? He was born in New Jersey, Freehold Monmouth Co NJ according to history in Hamilton co. IN. His parents Ebenezer Applegate and Mary Burge --no source for marriage and a lot of people have a different Ebenezer that married Irons as the parents. Dates are not quite right for that??? Jacob Applegate and Catherine Manlees married in Monmouth Co. 8 Aug 1763 --but I have found no parents for Catherine in Monmouth or anyplace else. A nebulous date of birth 174?? Anything anyone could add would be appreciated. Daniel Applegate and Rebecca Tilton d/of Peter and Rebecca Brazier ?? Seems pretty well sourced ??? Wills and land records. Bratholomew Applegate and Hannah Patrick d/of Daniel Patrick and Anna van ____ land records and various sources cite this. Then Thomas and Elizabeth Wall --seems pretty well documented. I corresponded MANY years ago with Hugh Voress and he helped me very much, but I know there seems to be errors in some dates and lines. But we have to remember he was working on this before Internet and did most of his work by handwritten notes. I am sure there is errors in many lines on Rootsweb now but I am trying to sort the best documented to add to a file about a foot thick. Therefore, will appreciate any input!! Of course, will share if lines join up. Kay kgoegglebellsouth.net

For now - only thing other thing has changed in the list owners patience <G> PS the boards ( most likely ) will not be gatewayed to the list any more - I dont want the extra work, best thing is to use the boards and lists separate for now . Members were sent a notice to join the list update list to understand the migration of rootsweb in to the new system . There are lots of problems happening and best thing I can say is you will have to wait out the migration before any thing works close to right again. Keep trying, and dont get disappointed in case something dont work right just yet ;_) Sorry about the problems, we are all experiencing them.
