    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: APPERSON POINDEXTER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZGB.2ACEB/103.1.1.1 Message Board Post: The APPERSON intermarriages with the Poindexters go way back to Virginia in the Cumberland/Buckingham clan of APPERSONs who were from St. Peter's Parish prior to that. I don't know what bearing this might have on the GM claims, since they were so much later. Nevertheless, I do remember one of the earlier Buckingham/Cumberland APPERSON folks being called "free person of color". That has always made me wonder, and want to see the original document to see if it is interpreted correctly. I have a couple of APPERSON men carrying the Poindexter name. One is my so-many-greats uncle, Lemuel Poindexter Apperson (b. NOV 1840). The other is William Poindexter Apperson (b. 25 DEC 1825). If you go to WorldConnect, and plug in apperson for surname, and poindexter for spouse, you get 44 hits, probably all of them making interesting reading. FWIW
