    1. [AOL-RW] Comcast Broadband effort update and question--------From Jeannie to all
    2. Hi everyone Thank you everyone for the good advice. :) Read about the first 4 or 5 letters before went to work and now read all of them. In rereading my post I see I led you astray at one point in time. The first person at Comcast I asked questions to was in the billing dept, not the regular tech dept. The Tech in the billing dept was the one who told me the info about leaving my computer on during high wind and lightning. When I got to Jon's letter about poor advice I called the Comcast tech dept. I read him Jonn's letter about poor advice. He said he completely agreed w/what was said in the letter. If I feel I need to turn it off I should do so. He also told me Billing person said his personal opinion and should not have done that. Good advice from Jon, Joan and Sharon about a new surge protector. I have a good one but did not think about getting a better one. Somehow along the way it was forgotten that I had said just got the kit and installing it tomorrow, my first day off. So at this point in time nothing wrong w/it that I know of. Can't really afford to buy the modem at this time, so am renting it. I do have a cable line coming in. No undergrounds here. My daughter who got me into this Broadband 100s of miles south of me has already installed hers. Works perfectly. A friend lives about 10 blocks from and has had it for some time w/no problems. If I have any problems Comcast better not tell me it is my computer. A year old expensive DELL which is why I cannot afford to buy a modem right now. <grin> Thanks so much for all of the response. Am keeping these letters for future reference. Goodnight all and to all a good night! Jeannie from OR :)
