Joan, We have found the problem. My husband called Dell and received wonderful customer service. Took almost 2 hours, and had the computer taken apart. After a variety of tests, we discovered that the modem was bad. Dell is sending us a new modem. I want to let others know about Dell's helpfulness because too often we complain about service at AOL, and when someone does something good we tend to forget to mention it. I was very impressed by the time and patience of the customer service rep. Our computer is still under warranty (we did not think it was). Library is closed tomorrow, so don't know when I will be back.
