That is why I pay the $3 a month rental fee they charge me. I guess my question here is what support do you NEED for a modem? The modem manufacturer would offer a warrantee and support should you need it--but in the nearly 7 years I've used a cable modem the modem itself has never required "support." Rebooting on occasion, yes--but never support. A cable modem shouldn't cost more than $60 and by paying $3 monthly for rental--you could have bought a modem in under two years. Even if you need to replace it in three years time--you are still financially ahead of the game. Plus there are many offers out there for those considering moving up to cable where they get the modem with a rebate offer for FREE if they also sign up for cable service--can't beat that. Free is GOOD. Joan
