    2. AOL's IMAP mail system stores the mail on AOL's servers--it isn't all downloaded when we click to read mail using the AOL mail program. As we click to read an email it becomes accessible to us unless the server that particular email is stored on at AOL is down or inaccessible for some reason. The fact that you can read OTHER inbox messages and just not the one or two indicates those emails are on a server that AOL can't find for you at that time. Eventually, those email DO become available again when the server comes backup--but you usually have to close your mailbox and reopen it to get those emails.
