The only time uninstalling Google Chrome would make a mess of things is if you checked the box to make Google Chrome your default browser. I did not do that. I have Internet Explorer, Microsoft Firefox and Google Chrome installed. Uninstalling any of them would not be a problem except for Internet Explorer as I need that one for AOL to function.
