    1. [AOL-RW] Lost mail, favorites and customized tool bar
    2. Hi all This morning I decided to do some clean-up of my computer and having seen one of the latest messages on this board pertaining to AOL adaptor I went to the one click fixes and clicked on "Rebuild AOL adaptor". I think that's when my problems began. I also used a couple of the other one click fixes but having used them in the past with no problems I don't think that's why my problems began. Now when starting or restarting I get the message "AOL ERROR. An error occurred while loading a file. AOL will attempt to restore the file". I've lost access to "new mail" and "mail waiting to be sent". I can read old mail and sent mail but only sporadically. The only way I can read new mail is to use IE. All my favorites have disappeared. The customized tool bar is now showing the icons from the person who shares this computer with me. She has not lost any of her favorites and can still has access to her new mail. I have AOL 9.0 optimized Revision 4148.5132. Windows XP. Not sure what else is needed for help. I've never used "restore" but is that what I should do? Is it possible to restore to yesterday's date? Sorry I'm a bit (to put it mildly) computer illiterate. Anyone else having these problems? Sandy Colorado

    1. Re: [AOL-RW] MSVCR71.dll repair (was re AOL integrated browser)
    2. Nancy, As long as you do not do a 'clean install' everything should still be right where you left it. You want to do an upgrade. Simply choose the AOL program you are currently using to upgrade from and it will copy all to the installation. Even if you do a new install, there is a way to bring your PFC with all it's contents over to the new program. So don't sweat the small stuff. Sharon ---------------------------------- In a message dated 2/2/2010 4:35:08 A.M. Pacific Standard Time, nlpakkala@aol.com writes: Thanks Sharon and Joan. I had also googled the error MSVCR71.dll. Last night I ran Registry Patrol which I had downloaded a long time ago and of course it found 34 errors which I said fix. It didn't help. Neither did rebuilding the AOL adaptor. I also have Ad-Aware and the AOL special edition McAfee security program. Looks like I will have to re-install AOL 9SE. What are the chances of my "Mail waiting to be sent" emails still being there? Nancy

    1. [AOL-RW] PDF formats w/AOL
    2. Is anyone having trouble getting a PDF file to load? For two days now, I've tried to get one to print out for my husband. I've updated Adobe; rebooted; refreshed the site page etc. When I click on the "click here" button it just blinks & gives me back the same page. Usually, downloading PDF it would say it was doing that on the browser but not the last two days. Any suggestions? Judy

    1. Re: [AOL-RW] new subject re AOL integrated browser
    2. One way to to REALLY be sure that mail doesn't disappear would be to send it to yourself and save it on AOL. Then you would have a copy of the email and can copy and paste it into a new email to send when you are ready to do so. Joan In a message dated 2/2/2010 7:44:57 A.M. 2. Nancy you should be able to right click on aol icon by the clock or go to america on line in all programs and you should see system informaiton icon it has a question mark icon then a new screen comes up and there is a blue tab that says utilites then scroll down and you will see again utilities and aol rebuild or something like that depending what aol you have click on it and it should rebuild and be fine If you have any trouble let me know. I hope it works Or you can try the rebuild if not I have reinstalled my aol its not a big deal really Ema Ema, Where do you find "rebuild AOL adapter"? I looked under system information but did not find it. I have not been able to get Aol to load the last few days, get this message- This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. I really don't want to re-install AOL but sounds like I will probably have to do that. I had several emails started in my "mail waiting to be sent" folder and I'm sure they will be gone after a re-install. I can get on thru Firefox or Chrome but those emails are not there. Nancy

    2. I have the same thing on my laptop. AOL will load if you click out of the error message. The main effect I notice on the laptop is that the email doesn't show all the headers although you can open and read it--but you can't easily reply or forward anything. It seems to be a corrupted file that I think mostly occurs in AOL 9.0 SE. Joan In a message dated 2/1/2010 10:27:29 P.M.
