Walt Walt- I'm not sure what steps you are going through to upload your file to WorldConnect. First off: did you create a GEDCOM file from your FTM file? Second: did you go to the main WorldConnect page: http://wc.rootsweb.com and click on the START HERE link? Third: did you create a usercode (to be used in the URL to identify your tree) and password and then go to a Set-up page on WorldConnect? Four: did you complete the items on the Set-up page and enter the URL to help WorldConnect locate your GEDCOM on your computer--or click on the browse button to browse to the .ged file you want to upload? At what point do you get this message about someone trying to access your file? FTM is already ON your computer so it doesn't need to access your computer. WorldConnect will need to connect in order to upload your GEDCOM. Joan

It sends the picture to Outlook or Outlook Express just fine but AOL doesn't conform. I scan, then go to the place where the picture is located and copy and paste it into email or using the Attach File button at the bottom of the email form, attach the picture as a file. Sharon

I want to upgrade my AOL to 9.0 SE. Can I disable my Norton, download the 9.0 SE, ignore downloading the McAfee portion and then enable my Norton. Is that possible? Can I have 9.0 SE with Norton Anti-Virus or will there be a conflict? ------------------ Sandy, First, let's clear up exactly which version of AOL you are planning on upgrading to. There are AOL 9.0 Optimized; AOL 9.0 SE/LE; and AOL 9.0 Security Edition SE. I'm going to assume that you are talking about the last one: AOL 9.0 Security Edition SE. Notice it says BOTH SE and Security Edition. The SE does not stand for Security Edition but for something else that just happens to also begin with the letters S and E. Now that we have that cleared up............ If you are upgrading to Security Edition SE, then when you install it, it should automatically detect that you have another type of Anti-Virus program and therefore NOT install McAfee. Sometimes Norton and AOL don't play nicely together. So if your AOL begins to give you headaches, your Norton could be the cause. However, many people run the two together with no problems at all. If you are actually talking about AOL 9.0 SE/LE and not Security Edition SE, then it doesn't matter because it won't be checking for another AV program anyway. You would have to deliberately download the McAfee program which you wouldn't be doing. Sharon Saying that "Norton and AOL don't play nicely together" is putting it mildly! My AOL 9.0 Security Edition SE worked fine when I just had the Norton AV program. When my subscription expired, I "upgraded" to Norton Internet Security 2006 -- BIG MISTAKE! The result was that my CPU usage was constantly pegged at 100%, and it took hours for most applications to open up, even when AOL wasn't running. Norton's tech support wasn't any help, so I disabled NIS, uninstalled it, and returned it to Norton for a refund. Then I installed AOL's Safety and Security Center. The SSC is working better, but I still haven't gotten it properly configured, and usually have to manually disable the on-access virus scanning. There will still have to be more conversations with Tech Live. But I will never buy or install another Norton product. Wilson

This is puzzling: I have an AOL 9.0 Optimized CD that when downloaded shows as AOL 8.0 plus. Does that make sense? Why if the CD is titled 9.0 Optimized would it download as 8.0 Plus? It was downloaded onto a computer with Windows XP Professional. I prefer the 9.0 Optimized but figured I had to go with either 8.0 plus or 9.0 Security Edition SE or LE. I didn't realize there were three 9.0s. The CD I picked up yesterday at Circuit City is titled 9.0 Security Edition. No SE or LE follows the title BUT on the back of the CD packaging it says that McAfee requires separate activation. From that I assume it is 9.0 Security Edition LE. Again, thanks for your help.
