Is that the way aol works or is there a setting I can change to make the original disappear when I click save. ---------- Lloyd, No, there is no setting where you can make the original disappear when you click save. In fact, if you are saving to the AOL default folder on your PC, then when you click delete, the mail in that default folder on your PC is supposed to be deleted as well. This was set up this way because many AOLers have their settings to 'Retain all mail I read in my Saved Mail Folder.' Then any spam that they had opened would get saved to their Saved Mail Folder and they wanted to be able to only click once to delete it from both their PC and their inbox. You should be able to click on the Next arrow at the bottom of each email to move on to the next email with no trouble. Sharon

Even if you need to replace it in three years time--you are still financially ahead of the game. Plus there are many offers out there for those considering moving up to cable where they get the modem with a rebate offer for FREE if they also sign up for cable service--can't beat that. Lloyd Lloyd- Assuming you are saving the email to the default incoming saved mail folder on your PC, this shouldn't have any bearing on accessing the next email in line in your inbox but it won't delete the message from your incoming mail either. The next time you open the inbox the messages marked already read (including the one you saved to your PC) should be moved over to your old mail folder--but should also be on your PC where you saved it. I'm concerned that if you are manually DELETING the message from your inbox after saving it to the default folder on your PC that AOL may also be deleting your saved copy--I know it has happened to many of us. Better check! Joan

I've heard of this message appearing in the full (stand alone) version of IE but I've never seen it in the AOL browser. There is a setting in IE where "debugging" can be turned off and that usually solves the problem. 1. [AOL-RW] Comcast Broadband effort update and question--------From Jeannie to all
    2. Hi everyone Thank you everyone for the good advice. :) Read about the first 4 or 5 letters before went to work and now read all of them. In rereading my post I see I led you astray at one point in time. The first person at Comcast I asked questions to was in the billing dept, not the regular tech dept. The Tech in the billing dept was the one who told me the info about leaving my computer on during high wind and lightning. When I got to Jon's letter about poor advice I called the Comcast tech dept. I read him Jonn's letter about poor advice. He said he completely agreed w/what was said in the letter. If I feel I need to turn it off I should do so. He also told me Billing person said his personal opinion and should not have done that. Good advice from Jon, Joan and Sharon about a new surge protector. I have a good one but did not think about getting a better one. Somehow along the way it was forgotten that I had said just got the kit and installing it tomorrow, my first day off. So at this point in time nothing wrong w/it that I know of. Can't really afford to buy the modem at this time, so am renting it. I do have a cable line coming in. No undergrounds here. My daughter who got me into this Broadband 100s of miles south of me has already installed hers. Works perfectly. A friend lives about 10 blocks from and has had it for some time w/no problems. If I have any problems Comcast better not tell me it is my computer. A year old expensive DELL which is why I cannot afford to buy a modem right now. <grin> Thanks so much for all of the response. Am keeping these letters for future reference. Goodnight all and to all a good night! Jeannie from OR :)

If you bring it back down by clicking the middle box in the top right corner, then you should be able to move the whole Mailbox around. When it's Maximized, there is nothing to grab hold of to move it and no place to move it to. When it's the normal size, the blue strip shows at the top and you just left click on it (holding the button down) and put it where you want it. I don't believe you'll ever get it below the task bar at the bottom. You'd have to move your task bar to one side or the other before you could bring it down that low and that's not necessary at all. Good Luck! Gail Vacaville, CA Mail page needs to be normal size , and the ads will go below the bottome bar without moving it aside ... I have had mine that way for a long time ... gerri

As a user for five years I can guarantee you will need it. For example, two days ago they installed a new modem for me. Since then it takes two to three hours every morning for me to be able to view anything with pictures because of the slowness. They tell me it's my computer. Yeah, sure, like my computer stopped working coincidentally when they installed the new modem. BTW, they almost always tell you it's your computer.

It is slower in some regions that it is in others. The service person who came to my house said in some places you get someone around in a day or two, in Atlanta it is usually 4 to 5 days. He also told me that sometimes when the service is running slow the techs haven't been told so they tell you there's something wrong with your computer when there isn't. I know 4 to 5 days doesn't sound like a long time when you're young and have a life but when you're old and handicapped and the computer and modem are your lifeline to the rest of the world, it seems like a very long time.

This is the way it is in the real world. I've had a problem with connectivity for over two months, talked to numerous techs, had someone to the house, and it still continues. Consider yourself extraordinarily lucky.
