    1. Re: [AOL-RW] Re: Connectivity
    2. Well I met this pop up today. There was no way to get it off w/out installing it. I have had no connectivity problems except for a squirrel who chewed the end of my cable at the street end so I did not want to install it. I called AOL about 1/2 hour ago about this pop up and no way to get it off. At first he said install it and then uninstall it. I did not want to do that . So then he said to log off and on the computer to see if it goes away. It did. So then he said whenever it appears just log off and on which is really stupid! In past letters people have talked about no way any more to give feedback.. I asked the tech. It is the Keyword Help Feedback. I went there and there is a place to write. (TCR/IP) How do I get the devices to show only my modem? ----- I don't know if you ever got an answer to this question or not but just today I got the update for the AOL Connectivity software that you are referring to. I've always connected via broadband and that is still how it is recognizing me--so that part went ok (so far). The installation placed a new icon blue icon in my systray that says AOL Connectivity Available. That's all I know about it. One thing though---it SEEMS to have solved the problem I was having of AOL trying to restart itself whenever I'd sign off. It had been SO annoying it was even trying to restart during installation of new software and even when I was shutting down the computer--I'd get error messages that AOL couldn't initialize because my computer was shutting down. Nothing I changed in the settings solved the problem--but perhaps something that the Connectivity update found during installation solved the problem--time will tell. Joan

    1. Re: [AOL-RW] Re: Connectivity/AND A WARNING ABOUT A PROGRAM
    2. Hi Joan I guess you might be right. I signed off and when got back to the computer there it was! However right now I moved it down as far as it will go so I only see a little of the top. That is easy enough. Other than a very recent midnight call to Comcast concerning getting bounced off (because of the squirrel) I have had none of the problems others talk about. Thus, I am not going to install it. I am always reluctant to install anything that is not necessary. Even more so since my totally disastrous experience below. The WARNING There is a really nifty mail program called IncrediMail. Very, very beautiful E-mail formats. My daughter has it, so I decided to install it. Saw my AOL mail in there and then I went to my AOL Mail Box. Always have 100s of post letters a day. Right in the middle of everything suddenly there was this English Butler w/a tray of mail standing in front of my AOL mail box. That is when I discovered that that program wants you to open and mail your mail in the IncrediMail program which is what my daughter does. I did not like this entire thing at all so I very carefully per their instructions uninstalled it. Then I went back to my AOL mail box and it was entirely empty of 400 plus letters which were of interest to me. This loss was more upsetting than you can even imagine. Called AOL tech. I found out that even though I had thought this program to be safe since I knew from my daughter that it had my AOL mail in it IncrediMail had not only erased my AOL mail in it's program, but also erased my AOL mail in AOL.. AOL tech said this IncrediMail mail is not affiliated w/AOL. To AOL's credit they tried to retrieve it. I had to wait 72 hours, but it was gone forever. The AOL tech could not give me the answer as to why this IncrediMail Company had my AOL mail in it in the first place. Even after I uninstalled the program an Icon to be used to go get my mail appeared every time I booted up. I kept deleting it. I did go to the IncrediMail site and sent a letter to their tech site concerning the loss of my mail. Thought maybe they could retrieve it. Would you believe that they never even bothered to answer it? However, after I sent that letter the desk top Icon never reappeared. I have not given up trying to find out why AOL mail is in any other program. Jeannie from OR :( In a message dated 7/6/2006 3:50:18 P.M. Lloyd, Try calling AOL and ask them if they still offer the 2Share program, maybe that isn't the right wording as I haven't used it in quite a while but... Last year I subscribed my daughter that lives across town on my payment plan with dialup. I only had to pay a little over a dollar more to have her share my dialup access, and we could both get online together, anytime. Hoping this is still offered and can help you and your son. Nancy

Is it possible to enlarge this? -------------- Phyllis, 1) If you are using your old screen name then you are not on any trial membership. The 9.0 Limited Edition isn't a trial edition, it's for those with less memory and/or resources to run AOL. 2) Change the screen resolution. Go to Start > Control Panel > Display then click on the tab that says Settings. There is an area on the left-hand side for screen resolution settings. The bigger the numbers the smaller the print!
