Could this have changed some setting in my AOL? Wilson- No--this has nothing to do with AOL's connectivity software--something has changed on the sending end with the RWR--or something that was included in this specific issue of the RWR caused the problem. The RWR is not normally sent with base64 encoding. Whatever it is is the same thing that sometimes causes AOLers to receive digest messages encoded like this too. Joan

The latest RWR (vol. 9, #27) came to me this morning in an encoded format. Per Myra Gormley (see below), this seems to be a problem with AOL's handling of base64 encoding. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there a solution? FWIW, I just downloaded and installed an AOL connectivity update. Could this have changed some setting in my AOL? This hasn't happened with any previous issues of RWR, which I have been receiving at my AOL address for several years. Wilson DeCamp Leesburg, VA In a message dated 7/7/2006 10:24:22 A.M. Hi, Yesterday I could not get on to AOL. Called tech support, they said disc was probably corrupt, so uninstall and get a new disc and reinstall. Did that, but now get a message that computer language is not compatible with the disc language. Techs say that something is wrong with the computer. Can anyone offer an opinion on what to do? Will I need some major work on my computer? I have a Dell computer with Windows XP, dial up connection. I had been using 6.0 AOL. Thanks Judy

I got a new computer, my daughter set it up for me and it seems it comes with AOL 9.0 Limited Edition. Before I had 9,0 SE. I think maybe I am working with a trial membership instead of my old membership?? How do I attack this? Another problem -- the print on the screen looks like about font size 8 or 10 - very hard for an old gal to read. Is it possible to enlarge this? Phyllis My new computer came with the Limited Edition, too. It gave me a lot of trouble so I uninstalled it and installed the Security Edition instead and it works much better. About the fonts, I haven't figured that one out yet. Another Old Person
Last nights news said that AOL will offer free services for those customers using broadband. They will depend on ads for their profit. The dial-up users will pay about $26 per month. They expect 25 million dial-up users to switch. So now we know why they don't care what users want. I should add that I have not searched the web to verify this.

Eastern Standard Time, Neonan@aol.com writes: Try calling AOL and ask them if they still offer the 2Share program, maybe that isn't the right wording as I haven't used it in quite a while but... Last year I subscribed my daughter that lives across town on my payment plan with dialup. I only had to pay a little over a dollar more to have her share my dialup access, and we could both get online together, anytime. Hoping this is still offered and can help you and your son. Thank you Nancy, I will try that. Lloyd

I can be online when all of a sudden I get cut off. I immediately sign back on but, get cut off again with the message saying "Your account is already connected using AOL Dial up access. Only 1 screen name may use AOL Dial up at a time." I have asked him how he does it, he says he only sign on normally, that he doesn't know that I am online at the time. I have tried to sign on when I know he is online but cannot. Is there a secret to cutting someone off to get online yourself? Lloyd Lloyd , my understanding is that only one person can be on line at one time, on dial up w/aol.... and he does not know you are trying to get on line... you only know he is on line.. Maybe someone else has a solution for you.. gerri

I just wish that AOL would tell us before those automatic updates just what is being updated and why. I don't know of anyother company that doesn't do so. Jon Raymond St Paul Park, MN Web site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~raymond/
