I receieved a spam message on a Yahoo account. When I tried to forward it to Yahoo, I am informed that I am "blocked from sending messages, see rate limits" when I looked that up, I could see nothing that applied to my messages and I am able to send all other messages. What does this mean? Virginia Green

Scroll to see Woody's question. I, too, have been having horrible thoughts about what I would do with the web sites, genealogy info, census pages, and everything else imaginable that one would save while an AOL member. I understand there is software which will save Favorites, but haven't checked that out yet, but that is minor compared to what Woody is talking about...kinda like our *life*. Of course, if there were some sort of program that would move *everything* to cable from AOL, in one great sweep, even at a great cost (worth it),and then just use AOL for mail...ah, but that is asking for the impossible. Virgene, who appreciates all the replies to my questions and reads all the answers to others' questions, as well. From Virgene who asks a lot of questions and gets good, prompt answers (but can't help much, because I don't know much about computers). Virgene I get my broadband from our local telephone company and now have one line only (previously had one for phone and one for computer/emergencies). I pay AOL a small amount each month so that I can keep my AOL address (by subscribing to the cheapest dial-up service) and use Thunderbird and Firefox as email and browsing software. I could however continue using the AOL software if I wished. Anne VandA121@aol.com wrote: > We have just changed servers -- AOL to Comcast. My Woodworth surname web page on AOL started as a lark back in 1998 before Rootsweb mail lists caught on, and for quite a while was #1 on search sites when entering "Woodworth". I have the site cut up and poked in free places everywhere, including Rootsweb Freepages after it turned up, and all appearing to be one seamless web site through links. But my top page and some sub pages are on AOL. Many pages from other web sites link to that top AOL page, and I just don't like the idea of that becoming a dead link when other live sites continue to point to it. But after thinking about it, I guess I could Google that dying or dead AOL address before or after it dies, and then send e-mails to those sites where Google tells me it shows up. Simply "tell" your AOL start page that on your AOL setup you want to connect with a broadband connection. You're using AOL 9.0 SE. Next time you start AOL, click on "Connect Options", then "Check for High-Speed Connection". It will give you the best connection, which will of course be your cable. Once you've performed the above, you'll be able to use AOL e-mail and your Comcast e-mail concurrently with no interference. I use both xxx@cox.net and xxx@aol.com e-mail addresses and jump back and forth between Outlook Express and AOL with both programs running. You won't need a line for AOL. However, if comcast goes down, I'm not sure, but I think you can change your AOL to use dialup temporarily. In my case, I have a laptop that I use as a dialup backup when my cable or desktop isn't working. The reason I have kept AOL is the established web sites I have on it. Woody

In a message dated 7/24/2006 8:35:07 AM Eastern Standard Time, Decampnews@aol.com writes: Following a complete virus scan this morning, the results tab on my AOL Safety and Security Center showed that the following files were suspect, but could not be cleaned: cbtdrtcj.exe enpmsgfa.exe eqmfexdm.exe fvneauis.exe nqkstwpr.exe tjfiduxg.exe timhbnka.exe All of the files are found in C:/Windows/system32. They show recent creation dates. The size is 17.3 KB, and use 20.0 KB of disk space. Does anyone have comments about whether they should be deleted? Wilson Wilson- Someone on this list MAY have an answer for you and, if so, they are more than welcome to reply...but I think the best list for asking about possible viruses would be: VIRUS-DISCUSSION-L@rootsweb.com . There are many experts on this subject on that list who I'm sure can help you. Joan
