    1. Am concerned about AOL hacking?---------------Jeannie
    2. Hi everyone :) For about 3 weeks or so I have had some AOL issues. Consequently have talked to AOL techs concerning these issues. My concern was and is that every time I talk to AOL tech on phone, very shortly afterwards I receive an AOL Phishing letter (not official envelope) concerning the topic addressed w/the AOL tech. Since this went on for sometime, I finally called an AOL tech to see why this was happening. The tech blew it off. When it happened again an AOL tech blew it off. It just seems too coincidental for this too happen so many times. Any thoughts?

    2. Robin, You are absolutely correct and I apologize for not distinguishing my location when I have written. I think the problem is that the written messages from AOL do not say that this new policy just applies to the accounts in the U. S. Therefore, we make the erroneous assumption that it applies to all. And it may be just a matter of time before the policy spreads "across the big pond". 2. I have been studying the message along with the faq's. What I cannot figure out is if my email stored on aol and my favorite places will be kept or deleted if I stop paying. It is clear that the service stays if I keep paying but is not clear what happens if I stop. Ruth Cherecwich

    1. About the New AOL from the CEO..........
    2. http://daol.aol.com/newaol/email An Important Message From AOL's CEO Dear AOL Member, I want to let you know about some exciting changes happening at AOL. Our service has always been an all-in-one solution for our members, consisting of: Connectivity -- a way of connecting to the Internet (through a dial-up or high-speed connection), and Content and Services -- bringing you useful tools and features like email, security and an entertaining online experience once you're connected. Today we are announcing that AOL's software, email, and other compelling AOL features will be free to everyone who has an Internet connection -- including your Address Book, Screen Name, the Buddy List® feature and more. AOL will continue to provide a dial-up connection for you, and we will continue to offer several reliable and affordable options for getting online. What Does This Mean for You? Nothing about your service arrangement with us will change unless you want it to. Your current plan, which includes Internet connectivity, 24/7 customer support, unlimited email storage, your email addresses and all the AOL content and services you rely on, will still be there for you. If you do at some point choose another provider to connect you to the Internet: You can keep your AOL Screen Name and email address for as long as you want to use it, completely free; You can continue to use your AOL software, and you can still get all your favorite features and content, completely free; You will still get AOL's comprehensive safety and security tools, protecting you from online hackers, spammers and identity thieves, completely free. All of this is free, no matter who provides your Internet connection. Why Is AOL Doing This? We're simply changing with the times. There are many options for Internet access, whether it's dial-up or broadband. At the same time, a lot of online content and services are now available on the Web free of charge because they are supported by advertising. So, while your Internet connectivity needs may change over time, what you love about the Web does not. We are now able to ensure that the familiar AOL experience, your Screen Name, your Address Book, your Buddy List, your Favorite Places, and other content and features you enjoy, will always be available to you for free. In September, you will be hearing more about changes at AOL. Until then, you can visit AOL Keyword: New AOL for more information and to sign up for informative email alerts. Sincerely, Jon Miller Chairman and CEO AOL LLC I thought I'd send this along for your edification........ Sharon

Is there some way to get rid of them? I have AOL Limited Edition. Phyllis Phyllis- It is starting to sound as if they are installing the AOL Limited Edition on new computers and then allowing you to download the full version if you wish to--I would think a new computer would have the space and memory to accomodate the full version if you care to download it. As for the ads on teh mail screen: First: move your cursor to the bottom of the mail window until the cursor turns into a double edged arrow. Second: hold down the cursor and stretch the mail window down as far as you can (this won't totally allow you move the ads out of site in this step but will let you enlarge and slide the mail window down to the edge of the screen. Third: now move the cursor up to the top of the mail window over the dark blue title bar at the top of the window. Hold the cursor down and MOVE the window down further until the ads are below your viewable screen. -- if you would like to now make the viewable mail window a bit larger you can move the cursor all the way to the top of the blue title bar and hold it down and drag the window (resizing it and not moving it) until it is as big as you want it. FINAL STEP: once you have everything looking as you want it to remain--then click on the WINDOW menu at the top of the AOL main screen and select REMEMBER WINDOW SIZE and POSITION. Joan
