    2. Sharon, I have Windows XP Professional and it looks like it does that every time I turn the computer on. I only have to go in and delete cookies regularly. When I wanted to scan/defrag a notice popped up that it was analyzing if I needed to defrag or not, and then I got a pop-up notice that it wasn't necessary to defrag at this time. There wasn't anything in the designated folders for scandisk to remove. Everything was at 0 MB. It was the main reason I chose to not use that plan. I figured it was cheaper in the long run to pay a little more each month and have unlimited hours for dial-up than chance running up a big bill when I was traveling. Sharon

My charges were to have been 2.95 a minute with a max of 34.95 per month. AOL forgot about the max and just charged me $600.00 + for one month. I called and had my plan changed from $14.95 bring your own internet without any dial up hours to $9.95 bring your own internet and unlimited dail up hours. At least that is how their CSR explained things to me. She told me she would send a message to their complaint billing department to see if she could get me a refund for last month and this month (charge is already up to $140.00). She said that there was no way she could transfer me to this department so that i could talk with them. She said that if they were to give me a refund it would take about 10 days and I would see it on my credit card. If I didn't see it on my credit card than the refund wasn't approved. Does anyone have any phone numbers, names, extensions, etc that I could use to follow up on this if the refund isn't approved? Hi I am so glad someone else is having the same problems. As I am not completely computer literate I thought it was me but am so glad to hear that it is not. I think that they are doing this because soon there will be a new AOL.10 or similar coming out soon. This problem arose when they were AOL.8 and I was forced to get AOL.9 but in the process lost a lot of important saved letters and addresses. 1. [AOL-RW] re.Is AOL on overload with now being 'free'
    2. Question was: Is AOL on overload with now being 'free' I've been with AOL for more than 10 years. I've noticed that every once is a while it may take a few seconds longer to get on, but its not that bad. However, I do get booted off occasionally but AOL restarts me right away. It seems like it happens in the evening between 6-10:30 pm. Bev Carlson of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, USA "Life is too short to be sad all the time. Love is too important to go without. Fyi for anyone else, Aol has changed a few files lately. Make sure to go into your firewall and recheck program settings. Joyce

    2. There have been a couple of times when it's been a pain logging on but that was also before the Free thing. In surfing today and yesterday though, it does seem slower even though I have cable. I don't think the Free thing is the problem because I cannot conceive of that many people going free that fast. Ruth Cherecwich In a message dated 9/13/2006 8:54:35 PM Mountain Daylight Time, Sugarfoot1@aol.com writes: It takes about 7-8 attempts to logon to AOL. When it gets to 'checking password', it goes no where so I have to back out of it and try again to logon. When I do get into AOL, immediately it 'stops responding' so I have to wait for it to respond which takes a minute or so. I've had new mail that I've tried to open only to get a message 'this email is currently not available' and on a few occasions, when I try to open the old or sent email folder, its blank and I know there is email in those folders. Response time is slow and getting worse. I use Charter Pipeline and when they say their fastest speed is 10Mbps, I show that I'm at 11Mbps, so I don't think Charter is the problem. I thought it might be my firewall and virus detector slowing things down or maybe they were at the wrong settings. I use a wireless router to 'piggyback' another computer in the house that the Charter Pipeline is connected to. I use PC-cillin and they told me to use the setting of 'wireless connection' as opposed to 'home network'. (I sure hope some of this makes sense).
