HI you two great helpers, evidentially we had a power loss unknown to me, when it happened I lost much of my PFC file. Along with lots of stuff I lost all the printed info in my mailbox when the mail opens. With the help of a great couple techs who were both available as soon as I went to aol tech support, I was back up running the next day. I did however lose everything in my Personal Filing cabinet. Thanks for trying to help me Woody, you both are great. I by the way recommend everyone use the computer cleanup that AOL supplies, I found it really helped when I clicked on fast start up...wow what a difference. When you try to reply or forward mail -- are the REPLY and FORWARD icons grayed out and unusable? Also, any attachments are not downloadable. If this sounds like what you are experiencing, I think your email program has become corrupted and you would probably need to do a clean install of the software to fix it. This happened to me for no apparent reason on my old laptop. I never did find an easy solution to the problem. The mail appears correctly if you go to AOL's webmail. In a message dated 10/13/2008 2:33:55 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: ""I found nothing to suggest that the AOL message boards were being taken down.""" You are right, they are still up. I was addressing a rumor where someone said the boards were on a list of things scheduled (maybe) to be taken off AOL. It was later posted that it was an old message that had been around for awhile and that it still hadn't happened. I wondered if any of those who head this list would know. I've always had my boards marked and they are one of the main reasons I stayed with AOL over the years. The changes that AOL has made over the years to the boards have caused many to leave and post in other places. These days you have so many options. As to how to get there, I typed in photography boards and just scrolled down until I saw the boards for AOL. I guess you can do that with anything. Thanks, Woody. I can't believe I've been with AOL for 10 years and never knew these existed. Carol I meant chat with aol. It used to be called Live Help when you could contact aol while on line and ask them a question about 14 times before you got an answer. I've used both AOL, and a small local ISP. All ISPs have their quirks. AOL works better for me. IMHO: AOL software is written primarily for PCs, because lots more people own PC machines. Then they add some "mouse milk and baling wire", and come up with a version that works on a MAC. It's easier for AOL to keep coming out with add-ons for PCs. <G> Sticking with AOL and MACs Ann **************New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination.
