    2. Hi Ruth, I was glancing through all the information you have sent and I am thinking that you have another line of Anthonys not connected with this line. there is another line which was centered in the New England region. It is quite odd however that your anthonys were in Marion County Florida and ours in Marion County, Alabama. Also my grandfather married a Williams and you are connected with the Williams line. Hmm.. I still think there is a link somewhere to put these two lines together and hope one day someone will do so. If there is anything anyone can help you on we will surely do so. I will search what I have but I really don't think I have anything on your line. Perhaps Red or Foy does though. Jim Anthony

    3. Hi. I'm new to the board, just got done reading all the archived messages. Noticed no one has gone further south to FL. I'm not related to the Anthony line. My brickwall is George Washington Williams b abt 1845, son of Monroe and Mary Williams, husband of Louisa Frances Chester. George and Louisa moved to Fl (from Ga and or AL) and one of their children, my grandfather, was born in 1893 in Anthony, Marion Co, Fl. Here's the link between the Williams and Anthony families: The Williams family (whether it's GW's parents of GW is not known) was friends with the family that the town of Anthony was named for.... Col. Edwin C (Clark?) Anthony. Do any of you know anything about him? Who he served under and where mustered, wherehe or his family hails from? Any info you can give will be greatly appreciated. E. C. Anthony, who, in 1882, was one of a group that established the community as a center for citrus, cattle, lumbering, and sheep raising. I had family through that town just after that time and early 1900s. I would love to find out more about the town and their habitants. There is a women who lives in Ocala that might have some information. Her name and address is below. She is the author of numerous small booklets called, "Salty Crackers." These booklets cover the history of Marion County and shows numerous pictures of the people who grew up and lived in this area. Maybe she can help in overcoming your brickwall. She has written about 10 or 12 book on the area. Dont know is she has e-mail or not, I would like to contact her myself, not sure I have the right address since its been awhile. I have people from that area to. Addie P. Howell [email protected] Hi Ruth, Its me again. I found this in one of the little books. Col Edwin C. Anthony 1818-1884 Founder of our town. It became known as Anthony in 1876. Addie

    1. [Anthony-South] Anthony-Line
    2. Hello Friend; I am sorry. I suppose I should have been more specific. Your line and my line may be linked at some point but the link has yet to be found. I descend from Richard Harold Anthony b. 1690 in Ireland or Wales, William Robert Anthony b. 1712 NC, William R. Anthony b. 1765 NC, William Anthony b. 1788 NC, William Pickens Anthony b. 1832 Alabama, Robert Franklin Anthony b. 1854 Alabama, Ralph James Anthony b. 1917 Arkansas, James Michael Anthony, (myself), b. 1947 Kansas. Your line seems to have made a different pathe to the south than William's line. Red and Foy Anthony (also on this list) can be a little more helpful as to the difference in path's the two lines took. Hopefully one day someone will find the link to tie the two together. 1. [Anthony-South] re: Anthony Ancestors( [email protected]).
    2. Hello silvrburd, In answer to your puzzle, I am afraid i cannot connect that line to ours. You see there seems to be another Anthony line that has puzzled us for some time now. Our line dates to Richard Harold Anthony b. 1690 in Ireland or Wales The Mark anthony you mention is not within our Anthony line but another which ended up in Georgia as per your information. Yet there could still be a missing link between these two lines and no one has yet discovered it. I have others who have contacted me requesting information on the line you are researching, but this line of Anthony's came into the states in the mid 1700's in North Carolina, then migrrated to Alabama and Arkansas. Some went to Texas also. There is however a story of two brothers early on, must have been in the 1700's who parted ways and one went north the other went south. that is all I have heard on this. If true it could explain the two seperate lines . perhaps Red or Foy could shed a little more light on this for you, best of luck in your search sorry I could not be more helpful. Jim Anthony

    1. [Anthony-South] Bobby Anthony Query
    2. Hello Listers Well I am back from the Anthony Reunion. It was the best one I have attended. We had people from Arkansas, Texas, Alabama and Kansas. The query for Bobby Anthony is a result of my being told about it at Sunday's church services. Apparently, Bobby is the given name, not a nickname. He is the son of Willie Alva Anthony, grandson of Willie Arthur Anthony, gr grandson of John William Anthony, gr gr grandson of William Pickens Anthony. I am told he has a brother, Claude Anthony. Bobby is a retired orthopedic surgeon from Enid, Oklahoma and Claude a pharmacist from Stillwater, Oklahoma. I have no dates on this line nor spouses or children. Any information or notes, dates, names etc would be appreciated. I hope all enjoyed the short time we had together at the reunion, I sure did and wish it could have lasted longer. 2. Red Anthony
    3. Hello cousins: That is interesting about the will. The William B. could have been the father of our William that went to Alabama. He was supposed to have a brother named James H. Anthony, and he is not listed in the will. Below are the Williams I found in N.C., and others in Craven County. The first is our William in Alabama. I think he and his father-in-law, William Abraham McMinn, were in Alabama by 1820 or before. Did Sam get a copy of the will. Maybe he can do some more research over in NC. 1. [Anthony-South] Help on William Robert Anthony's Will.
    2. Hello all, I just received this from my cousin Sam Nixon and thought maybe someone would have an answer. I am stumped but it does seem possible. The e-mail message below will explain what I refer to. Jim Anthony (List-administrator) Dear Jim, When I was in the NC archives I ran across a copy of a will of William Anthony of Newbern in Craven County, NC. The will was recorded in 1806. His wife was listed as Catharine; children as Sarah C. and Catharine G., son as William B. I think this could be the will of William Robert Anthony, b. March 20, 1711/12 in Ireland, and d. 1804 in Cravens Co., NC. Have you ever run across any of these names? Sam
