Edith, It depends which version of FTM you have. I have 2012, and it's quite simple. Generate your Family Group sheet, then at the top right hand side of the page there is a button which says share. This allows you to do several things, one of which is export to PDF. I would suggest using that. You can create a PDF and then attach it to an email. If you have an older version, I'm sure there will be a similar facility.
