Births marriages and deaths are recorded under the Parish where the event took place. Towns and Parishes may have the same name, Forfar for example, large cities, such as Dundee, may be divided into several Parishes for administrative purposes and some towns grew up around a resource (water power for example) and never became a Parish in their own right. Carnoustie is such a place. Part of the town is in the parish of Barrie and part in the parish of Panbride. So, if you are looking for a life event on SP in the Carnoustie area it will be under one of these names, not Carnoustie. Forfarian's pointers to Dalget(t)y records in Barrie are therefor worth looking into. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
