Williams parents were John Dalgety journeyman mason deceased and Mary Dalgety (nee Myles) Catherines parents were Robert Campbell shepherd and Elizabeth Campbell (nee Kydd) Witnesses at the marriage are John Smith Dalgety and Bella Campbell. 1911 census has a Katherine Dalgety age 37 born Falkland Islands working as a jute weaver in Barry Carnoustie. With her are her two sons James aged 11 and William aged 9. Although her husband is not present she is not shown as widowed so he is possibly off working some where else. I checked Findmypast for overseas births for Catherine around 1874 and found only one born at sea. It doesn't have a date but is in the record book for 1862 - 1875 and as all entries are numbered hers is later on the list so it can be suggested that it is about 1874. This may be her birth but no other details are given. It should be noted that at the time of her birth circa 1874 the British Government were trying to establish a colony on the Falkland Islands at Port Stanley and they had recruited many families from Scotland. There was a great need for shepherds as sheep were a large part of the program. Catherine's father was a shepherd so it is possible that this was why he left Scotland.
