Hello, Regarding the Johnston families, I am descended from Ann Dick Johnston & Patrick Barry, both born in Arbroath 1822 & 1821. Ann's father was Dick Johnston a former builder then a ship-owner whose ships sailed to Australia. I'm an Ozzie. I notice your surname is Ramsay........ A Margaret Ramsay, bapt in 1779, was daughter of James Ramsay & Barbara Wanlace/Wanless, she married my distant relly, John Barry a Tin Merchant on 9 Aug 1820.
